‘Counting On’ Cancelled? Some Fans Prefer Social Media Updates
Could Counting On be cancelled by TLC after a 10 Season run because of social media? Fans remain desperate to know if they will get another season of their favorite reality TV series family.
We’ve had the pleasure of enjoying the Duggar family on our televisions for over a decade. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar kicked off their decade long TV run before all 19 of their children were even brought into the world. Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of watching the children of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar grow.
Today, we are watching as Michelle and Jim Bob’s grandchildren grow. Thanks to social media, Counting On fans are still able to keep tabs on their favorite members of the Duggar family. This, however, isn’t enough for some fans. They desperately want another season of the show. Unfortunately, more and more fans grow concerned a new season isn’t coming.
Fans suspect the family is growing past the show to do their own thing.
Most of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s children have social media accounts. This is especially true for Instagram and Twitter.
Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have their own Instagram account that is titled The Duggar Family. It regularly updates fan on various members of the family. They, however, are far from the only Duggars with social media accounts. In some cases, both husband and wife have an Instagram account. And, in other cases, Duggar couples share a single account.
Even some of their unmarried children that remain at home have social media accounts too. This includes Jana Duggar who still lives at home despite being 30-years-old. Jed Duggar also has a social media profile despite not courting.
Followers of Counting On suspect the series may be cancelled.
With more and more Duggar YouTube channels popping up, fans can’t help but wonder what this means for the future of the series. Is there a need for the show with so many Duggars doing their own content on YouTube?
The topic was recently brought to life on the Subreddit Duggar Snark. While the Subreddit isn’t a place for fans of the series or the family, they did make a few great points.
Counting On hasn’t been renewed for another season yet, and I think it’s because it has been replaced first by Instagram and now by YouTube. Why on earth would anyone want to watch the show with its boring interviews and snail pace when they could see real life updates on YouTube? … Everything on the show is old news anyway because of Instagram and tabloids, now the show won’t even get to show special footage.”
Social media updates do cause issues with reality TV shows such as Counting On. After all, their life continues to move forward even after recording episodes of the series. So, it becomes difficult for the family to post on social media without giving things away about the series. Will social media kill the series? Some Duggar followers really seem to think so.
Jinger and Jeremy, however, already confirmed filming for Season 11.
While the idea that social media kills shows like Counting On makes sense… It doesn’t line up with social media activity by Jinger and her husband Jeremy. As we reported a few months ago, Jinger and Jeremy dished on their Instagram Stories that they were currently filming episodes for Season 11. The reveal included several photos of the camera crew inside of their home.
