Blue Bloods is one of the most popular shows around, and one that viewers and the cast themselves loved. With the series finale about to air, Donnie Wahlberg recently opened up on life immediately after filming wrapped. So, what did the actor have to say?

For many viewers, certain shows become part of your routine. Whether viewers sit and enjoy shows with their families, or watch shows by themselves, it’s easy to get taken in by certain characters and certain stories. In the case of Blue Bloods, the show built a loyal fanbase over the years. Fans are angry about the beloved program not sticking around.
Season 14, Episode 18 is called End of Tour, and it will be the series finale for a show that has captivated audiences for 14 seasons. Fans have known that the end was near for some time now, but, that has not made accepting that reality any easier.
Donnie Wahlberg Opens Up On Emotional Time After Filming Wrapped
It turns out, it is not just the viewers who are sad that Blue Bloods is ending prematurely. There has been a lot of investment over the years from the scripted drama’s biggest stars, like Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg. Recently, Donnie dished on what life was like for him right after filming on the series wrapped.
Wahlberg said that he “couldn’t turn off the tears for another probably two days” after the final “cut” on that last scene, signaling the end of a project that he and others put their hearts and souls into since 2010.
Tom Selleck recited a poem, something he often did during those moments. Selleck read Love Is Not All by Edna St. Vincent Millay.
According to Wahlberg, he said: “Literally, my life passed before my eyes. I was listening to his voice mesmerize this room and thinking about what a magical journey, and what a gift that this boy, who didn’t know where his next meal was going to come from half the time, in this scrappy family, who grew up watching this man on TV, is sitting next to him, sharing this magical moment of his wisdom and grace.”
Blue Bloods: Donnie Wahlberg Had Touching Words After His Last Day On Set
Donnie Wahlberg’s last day on the Blue Bloods set came back in June, and even then, he was feeling all of the emotions from this passion project he had poured his heart and soul into.
At the time, the actor wrote: “Not sure I have the words to describe how I feel about today, or the last 14 years on this special Blue Bloods journey, but I do know how incredibly thankful I am for every moment of it.” Wahlberg also called the show “one of the great blessings of my life.”
The Blue Bloods series finale airs on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 10 pm on CBS.
