Critics Blast Gayle King For Giving Assistant ‘Heartwarming’ Gift
CBS Mornings’ Gayle King had a sweet and heartwarming present for her assistant. She then revealed the present and said it was something the assistant had been dreaming of getting for many years. However, while Gayle had good intentions, and the assistant loved the gift, fans at home decided they didn’t like it and chose to let their voices be heard online.

Gayle King Gives Assistant Dream Present
Gayle King had a special gift for her assistant, Shelby, this year. She got her assistant a puppy for he birthday. Gayle said that Shelby had just turned 30 and had wanted to own a dog since she was a little girl. She said this seemed the perfect time to get her a puppy.
“Her best friend @__dionnabee__ told me she had been dreaming of a cavapoo,” Gayle wrote in the caption of the Instagram video that showed her giving Shelby the puppy. “In the end Ivan Lapp’s “Harley” won me over … so operation get Shelby a dog was underway! “Harley” was dropped off at 4 am two days ago.”
Shelby already had the dog’s name picked out, and they introduced the world to “Baily Boo Copeland.” Gayle finished by writing, “Welcome Bailey Boo Copeland to your forever home !!! You have a great mom !”
In the comments, many fans fell in love with the puppy immediately. However, just as many people decided to take the time to pass judgment on Gayle King for the gift.
Fans Hate The Idea Of Gayle King’s Gift
As beautiful as the moment was and as happy as Shelby was to get her new puppy, people online blasted Gayle King for giving her the gift. Most haters felt she should have adopted a dog from a shelter instead of buying one, while others hate the idea of people getting a puppy as a gift.

Luckily, Shelby seemed to love her new bundle of joy, so people’s hate-filled comments online probably won’t get in the way of her love for her puppy.

Animals are not humans so I don’t agree with not being able to gift them especially to someone you know who will give that animal unconditional love, and as for adoption, The person adopting an animal can’t turn around and gift it to someone else… remember the Ellen fiasco when she did this years ago. Some if not most animal shelters will not allow people to adopt and give away an adopted pet, it’s against the terms of the adoption contract.
I think people should mind their own darn business. I thought is was a very nice gesture for Gayle to have done that for her assistant. I don’t think Gayle would have went to that extent to gift someone a puppy that she felt like would not be a caring and responsible pet owner. I don’t care what you do regardless of how good or thoughtful it may be somebody is going to find something wrong with it.
