‘AGT’ Fan Favorite Richard Goodall Set To Sing At Huge Event
Richard Goodall was the shocking winner of America’s Got Talent this past season. He won over fans quickly with his unassuming personality and his story as a high school janitor with a voice of gold. While his future remains a mystery, he seems to have picked up a big gig coming up this holiday season.
Here is where Goodall is performing and what might be next for the AGT champion.
Richard Goodall Picks Up Big Singing Gig Over Holidays
Richard Goodall worked as a high school janitor, convinced by students at his school to try out for America’s Got Talent. He finally gave in, and it was the best decision of his life. He won the entire competition and took home the $1 million grand prize.
Goodall knew that success was not guaranteed even with the big AGT win. Even with the $1 million prize, he has decided to keep his janitor job at the school to see what happens next. “I need to be smart. That’s a lot of money, but that kind of money doesn’t always go very far if you’re just being stupid,” he said.
Now, Goodall has seen one of his next moments as he has signed on to perform at an annual holiday event. Goodall will perform at Indy’s Circle of Lights ceremony on Monument Circle, which will air on local television on Friday, November 29 (via WTHR).
This is the 62md annual Circle of Lights in Downtown Indy, and it takes place the day after Thanksgiving. It will air on local television on WTHR Channel 13 starting at 6 p.m. local time.
Richard Goodall’s Story On America’s Got Talent
Richard Goodall will likely always be known as the “singing janitor.” That title remains one of the big reasons he won America’s Got Talent this season. He lives in Terre Haute, Indiana, and worked as a school janitor in the Vigo County School Corporation for 23 years.
On his way to the America’s Got Talent victory, Richard mostly sang older 1980s rock songs. He performed “Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey. Heidi Klum gave him the Golden Buzzer. In the Quarterfinals, he sang “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” by Michael Bolton.
The Semifinals saw Richard sing “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor. In the Finals, he sang “Faithfully” by Journey. Finally, in the finale, Richard got sang “Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey again, but this time with members of Journey (including original guitarist Neal Schon).

I truly believe that Richard sang from his heart and that he had no idea that he would go as far as he did. He had a genuine soul and if he choses he will go far in the music business. I believe that when he goes on stage to sing he is there to entertain the audience that came to hear him. Most people forget where they came from but I really believe that Richard will never forget.
