Robin Roberts Shares Special ‘Good Morning America’ Memory
Robin Roberts said in a recent episode that she remembered her “amazing GMA” legacy, as she has become one of the most important faces on morning talk show television. The Good Morning America host shared one of her best memories from her rise to her spot.
Here is what Robin said about this special memory from her past.
Robin Roberts Remembers Her Rise On Good Morning America
Robin Roberts moved into her role in 2005 when she replaced a departing colleague. She has been hosting the show for 19 years and works with Michael Strahan and George Stephanopoulos.
To start the celebration of 50 years of Good Morning America, Robin shared a video clip that she said she would never forget. This was the first of what is planned to be 50 moments from the history of the popular morning talk show.
The video showed Robin’s first day on the job as the new co-host. Antonio Mora had left the show for Chicago, and Robin joined as his replacement. Diane Sawyer and Charles Gibson welcomed her to the show as the other two co-anchors.
In the video, Gibson said they had nice words to say about Robin. However, he said it was just nice words since she wasn’t getting a raise in pay. They then announced the big news that Robin was joining them permanently as a co-host. Robin seemed really happy and enjoyed some laughs with the other anchors.
Robin wrote in the caption: “So glad we’re taking the time to look back at some of the most unforgettable moments on the show and celebrate how far we’ve come together! I thought I’d get in on the fun by sharing 50 of the most memorable moments I’ve had over the years.”
The Gibson-Sawyer-Roberts team only lasted until June 2006. Sawyer and Roberts worked as a two-person team until December 2009, when Sawyer left, and George Stephanopoulos replaced her. In April 2014, Lara Spencer joined, and it was a three-person team again. She left in September 2016, and Michael Strahan has been there ever since.
