Michael Strahan Talks Retiring From Television
Michael Strahan took a lot of time off during the summer to spend with his daughter, Isabella Strahan. She battled brain cancer, and the Good Morning America star put family first. He has always said his family time is more important, and some fans wonder how long he will remain on television.
Michael was asked about that recently and had some comments about retiring. Here is what you need to know.
When Will Michael Strahan Retire From Television
Michael Strahan has a lot of roles on television. He is a co-host on Good Morning America and one of the main analysts on Fox’s Sunday NFL coverage. Furthermore, he hosts a game show, The $100,000 Pyramid on ABC. This is a lot of work, and some fans wonder if he plans to scale back anytime soon.
Strahan took part in a recent interview and was asked this exact question. When faced with the idea of retirement, Strahan gave an honest and upfront answer. He said that he “always had those thoughts” but he still enjoys his current jobs on television.
“It will happen at some point. It’s not happening anytime soon. The kids are still in school. I’m empty-nesting again. I have loved having the energy and noise and arguing around the house,” Strahan said (via Town and Country).
For now, he seems to enjoy the freedom of working jobs that he loves, while also getting to take off to spend time with his family. This specifically includes his daughter Isabella.
Isabella Strahan Enjoying Post-Cancer College Life
Michael Strahan’s daughter, Isabella, was there with Michael Strahan for this interview, and he seemed thrilled for her to be back in school. “I’m just so happy for Isabella to get back to college. I want her to have that sense of independence again because my kids can’t grow if they’re under my shade,” he noted.

Isabella had enrolled at USC last year and was starting her freshman year when she received her medulloblastoma diagnosis in October 2023. She had to leave and start her cancer treatments. Shortly before the school year began this year, she was able to finish her treatment and exit the hospital cancer-free.
She has now restarted her freshman year at USC and is enjoying college life, ready to get things back under control again. While she hasn’t been as open on social media as when she battled cancer, her posts do show her happy to be at college and excited to be back again.
