‘Curse Of Oak Island’: What Happened To Miriam Amirault?
The Curse of Oak Island has been on TV for many seasons. However, one thing that most fans have to agree on is that the series is mostly all men. There have been very few women involved in the on-screen adventures as Marty and Rick Lagina search for treasure. However, one woman who was involved was Miriam Amirault.
Here is what happened to Amirault and why she isn’t on the show anymore.
What Happened To Miriam Amirault On The Curse of Oak Island?
The Curse of Oak Island has had very few female cast members over the years. However, one woman who was an important part of the show was Miriam Amirault. Fans of the treasure hunter had to feel confused when Miriam disappeared from the series, and no real explanation was given for her departure.
Miriam joined the cast in Season 8 and quickly became a fan favorite. Dr. Aaron Taylor, her professor and mentor at Acadia University, recruited her to join the team on the island. She had an expertise in archaeology and anthropology, making her a valuable member of the team.
She also brought some fun moments to the show based on her interactions with Rick and Marty Lagina. In her first season, Miriam brought some educational and fascinating insight into artifacts found on the island. An example of this is the Mi’kmaq pottery fragment.
However, finding this caused the government to step in, and the show had to halt filming while Nova Scotia determined what to do with the artifacts. Strangely, Miriam was not in Season 9 at all.
Where Did Miriam Amirault Go After The Curse Of Oak Island?
The Curse of Oak Island fans did see Miriam Amirault one more time, though. She showed back up in Season 10. While she was a highlight in Season 8, her absence in Season 9 was disappointing. What was even more disappointing was that her Season 10 appearances were brief, and then she was gone for good.
While the actual reason she left remains unsaid, many archeologists who appear on The Curse of Oak Island don’t stick around for long. With commitments to academics and fieldwork, staying on the reality TV show is not something most are willing to commit to.
There are some rumors that Miriam is now working on teaching or possibly advancing her studies (via Monsters & Critics). However, no one knows for sure, as she seems to have no social media accounts to follow her career.
