Chip Gaines Credits Jason Kelce As New Game Show’s Inspiration
Chip Gaines has a new game show called Human vs. Hamster coming to Magnolia Network. He appeared recently on Today with his wife, Joanna Gaines, to discuss the new show, and his influence on creating it was quite surprising. According to the Fixer Upper star, his influence is Jason Kelce.
Here is what you need to know about the new game show, and what Gaines said made him want to create it.
Chip Gaines Based Human vs. Hamster On Jason Kelce
Many fans remember Jason Kelce from his time as one of the NFL’s top stars with the Philadelphia Eagles. However, since his retirement, more fans might know him from his appearance, shirtless in the box seats, while watching his brother Travis Kelce play for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Viral moments like that are likely why the Kelce brothers got a huge deal for their podcast. Now, it sees Kelce as the inspiration for a new game show. According to Chip, “I feel like I was inspired. It was maybe – six – eight months back, and Jason Kelce rips his shirt off at some stadium. Something about that moment inspired this idea. Hamsters versus humans” (via Today).
Chip said Jason deserves all the credit for sparking “the whole idea.” Chip wanted to “throw him a bone” when describing the game show.
“When I saw him rip his shirt off I just felt like, I wish I was furrier. I wish I was hairier. Have you ever had that thought, ladies?” Chip asked Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie in the interview. He said that fantasizing about being more furry made him consider the idea of humans taking on hamsters in skills challenges.
What Is Human vs. Hamster About?
Once the Jason Kelce talk was finished, they began talking more about Human vs. Hamster. The series will have eight episodes of competition, where trained pet hamsters battle humans in scaled challenges.
When looking at footage from the show, Savannah Guthrie admitted that she couldn’t believe how skilled the hamsters were on the show. That likely shows that the hamsters might be the selling point over the people. “Hamsters are so smart,” Joanna said to the Today hosts, “and they’ve been training. You’ll be very surprised when you watch.”
This is also just one of three new reality shows on the Magnolia Network. Also arriving is a talent competition series called Second Chance Stage. Finally, the first-ever roller skating competition series, Roller Jam, will also premiere soon.
Human vs. Hamster starts streaming on Max on November 21.
