Survivor is one of the most successful reality TV shows of all time. This means that contestants on the show often find a chance to expand their fame by appearing on other shows after their stint on the island. Jeff Probst was asked about this, and he had a couple of thoughts about players who use Survivor to get gigs on other shows.

Here is what Probst had to say about the trend.

Jeff Probst On His Thoughts On Survivor Players Appearing On Other Shows

When some Survivor players become famous on reality TV shows, they end up with household names. They then use that fame to move on to other shows and take part in competitions on even rival networks. This has happened since the start of the series.

It is normal for Survivor contestants to appear on shows like The Challenge and The Great Race, as those shows are all about bringing in people from other reality TV worlds. More recently, Survivor players have shown up on The Traitors, House of Villains, Big Brother, Deal or No Deal Island, The Goat, and even Jeopardy!.

When looking at these players making their name and then more money on other reality TV shows, Jeff Probst said it doesn’t surprise him. Some players have even moved on to appear on Australian Survivor (Paravti Shallow, Cirie Fields, and Tony Vlachos).

“There is no better casting team in our genre than ours. And that is proven out by how many other shows want Survivor players,” Jeff said. “So I’ve been really happy to see this proliferation of shows that don’t have a casting department. They just rely on other shows.”

However, while this seems like a dig at the other shows, Jeff refuses to bash the players for taking the offered roles. “I want former players to do as much as they can,” Probst said, “and to have as many experiences as they can and to make as much money as they can.”

The Most Successful Survivor Players Outside Of Survivor

There was a huge money in 2024 alone that showed how one former Survivor contestant could make a lot of money on another show. Drew Basile appeared on Jeopardy! this year and ended up making $132,601. He also qualified for the Tournament of Champions.

The Amazing Race has had 12 former Survivor players compete on that show. The best any of them did was Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich, who finished second in season 7.

Big Brother had one former Survivor player compete, and that was Cirie Fields in 2020 with her son Jared. The Challenge had several competitors from Survivor. Danny McCray won in 2022 (The Challenge: USA), and Chris Underwood won in 2023 (The Challenge: USA 2).

Nine Survivor players completed on The Traitors, and Cirie Fields won as the Traitor in 2023. Two players competed on House of Villains (Jonny Fairplay and Richard Hatch).
