‘Y&R’ Melissa Claire Egan’s Message To Fans With Suicidal Thoughts
The storyline of The Young and the Restless character Chelsea (played by Melissa Claire Egan) took a turn two years ago. Depressed and suicidal, Chelsea was considering taking her own life. The storyline has stuck with many people, Melissa included. Now, the soap actress is speaking out in hopes of connecting with someone who needs the help. Melissa Claire Egan Remembers Difficult Storyline
Y&R fans watched Chelsea bounce back from her depression. For many viewers, it was something they could relate to, and Melissa Claire Egan played the part really well.
The soap star took to Instagram to commemorate the touching storyline and offer a special message to fans.
She shared a photo of one of the most heart-wrenching moments during that specific storyline. Chelsea was stuck on the roof, contemplating ending her life.
“Hard to believe this month marks two years since this very important episode and storyline,” she captioned the post. “Your messages and honesty about mental health and your personal stories have continued to touch and inspire me.”
Melissa continued, “Please always remember that you might feel alone, but you are not. You are so loved and you belong here.” the Young and the Restless star went on to share suicide hotline information for anyone in need. “Help is out there and it works, so please reach out and get the help you deserve,” she concluded. “I love you very much!!”
Young & Restless Fans Gain Support From Chelsea
A number of fans applauded the actress in the comments for her performance, but many people took to the comments to share their own tough stories. More importantly, how Melissa Claire Egan helped them not feel so alone during some of the hardest moments of their lives.
“I’ll never forget this performance or the way it shook my soul. Someone dear to me was going through a very rough patch with depression at the time this aired and your performance was so spot on it made me [bawl],” one fan opened up in the comments.
