Wayne Brady Is ‘Done’ With His Family, Why?
Season 1 of Wayne Brady: The Family Remix made its debut on Freeform in July. Since then, viewers have enjoyed watching the show, which focuses on his unconventional blended family. However, he recently revealed that he is “done,” why? Keep reading to find out.
Wayne Brady Had A Surprise Second Child In Season 1
In addition to Wayne Brady, The Family Remix also stars his ex-wife and friend, Mandie Taketa, their daughter Maile, and Mandie’s boyfriend, Jason. Early in the first season, viewers got to see Wayne surprise everyone in the family with some big news.
He secretly had another baby. His son, Val Henry, arrived after the Whose Line star hooked up with an ex-girlfriend. It was unplanned, but he was excited to have another child nonetheless.
This led many people to wonder if Wayne Brady might consider expanding his family even more in the future. He recently addressed the possibility on The Talk.
Wayne Brady appeared on The Talk this week, filling in for Akbar Gbajabiamila. Co-host Amanda Kloots opened up the conversation about Wayne’s kids, pointing out that his son and daughter are spaced far apart in age.
He said that having kids that far apart is “painful.” The Family Remix star said, “Getting down and rolling around on the floor is not the same at 30 as it is at 52.”
Then, he spoke about playing with his kids, which he believes is the best part of being a parent.
“It makes me happy that I have access to that because now I can do the same thing I did with Maile,” Wayne shared. “I can build forts and we can play cars, I can tell stories, and we can imagine together. That’s the best part of being a parent, I think, is laying that groundwork for play.”
Wayne Reveals Why He’s ‘Done’ With Family
The rest of Wayne’s family soon joined The Talk hosts on stage. During a humorous exchange between family members, someone joked about Wayne Brady getting a vasectomy. To which his daughter replied, “I thought that already happened.”
“Look, I’ve already got two [kids]. I’m 52. I’m not Moses or somebody from the Bible that needs to go forth. Nope. I’m done. In fact, I should schedule an appointment right after the show,” the father-of-two replied.
Witty as her dad, Maile quipped, saying that he should “take a self-care weekend, get some ice [and] start praying.”
That said, Wayne Brady has an incredible relationship with his daughter. While on The Talk, he opened up about improvising with Maile years ago. She appeared on Whose Line Is It Anyway alongside her father.
He remarked that it was one of the best moments in his career.
“I could barely be in the scene, and she’s rhyming and singing, and I’m just ready to cry,” Wayne remembered fondly.
