‘Tracker’ Showrunner Explains Major Character Departure
Tracker is coming back for its second season and will bring back some of the first season’s biggest guest stars. However, one of the show’s main stars has left the series. There was no word on what was happening, but now the showrunner has explained the storyline reasoning behind the departure.
Here is what we know about Robin Weigert leaving the series and what happens to Teddi Bruin.
Why Did Robin Weigert Leave Tracker?
The reason actor Robin Weigert left Tracker remains unknown. However, thanks to showrunner Elwood Reid, fans know the reason his character, Teddi Bruin, was written out of the show. In a recent interview, Reid said what caused Teddi to leave Colter and her wife and, therefore, the cast.
In the interview, Reid said, “[Velma] and Teddy have separated. Velma is struggling with what it means to be abandoned in some ways, and she’ll work her way through that emotion” (via Entertainment Weekly). Velma and Teddi were Colter’s handlers who sent him on his missions. They were also married, and it seems they are no longer together.
This will create a new storyline for Season 2, which will see Velma develop more of a relationship with Reenie (Fiona Rene) and possibly start a new romance with her. The recent trailer for the second season hinted at this. “Both of these women, as they go through some stuff in their lives, are going to be able to lean on each other and get on each other’s nerves,” Reid said.
Whatever happens, it seems that Tracker Season 2 will start, and Teddi will already be gone, so what happens to cause that remains to be seen.
What Is Next After Tracker Cast Changes?
Robin Weigert had a big career before coming to Tracker. She appeared on Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy, Big Little Lies, and in the horror movie Smile. She earned an Emmy nomination for Deadwood, where she played Calamity Jane.
She also recently appeared in the miniseries We Were the Lucky Ones, which aired on Hulu earlier this year.
As for the remaining cast members, this should give Abby McEnany a bigger role as Velma Bruin since it appears the show will focus somewhat on her personal life. With her seeming to develop a relationship with Reenie (an attorney who helps Colter), it seems she will get an elevated role from here on.
While Tracker is losing Eeigert, the show will bring back three big guest stars from Season 1 for more appearances. Jensen Ackles will be back as Colter’s brother, Russell. Melissa Roxburgh will return later in the season as his sister, Dory. Finally, Jennifer Morrison will also make another appearance as his childhood girlfriend, Lizzy.

I love the show!! I’m really very happy that the show wasn’t canceled. And Ackles is a very good fit as Colters brother. And I must say it’s cool to see 2 very fine men on 1 show!! I wish the show and cast a very good season and hope that the show isn’t canceled any time soon!! To everyone involved with the show, keep doing what you are doing because it keeps me coming back for more!!!
Another show pushing a friggin gay agenda. NOBODY would ever believe Reenie would fall for that manly brute Velma. Keep “her” in the background.
Love the show! Hate the lesbian story. Not every show needs gay/lesbians!
You led us to believe that Reenie and Colter had history. I would love to see that.
