‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Ryan Seacrest’s Premiere Brings Jaw-Dropping Ratings
Ryan Seacrest’s Wheel of Fortune premiere brought in jaw-dropping ratings, especially after some were skeptical if he could cut it. After Pat Sajak announced his retirement, the hunt was on for the new host. When Ryan was named the new “Pat,” it was a big deal but not everyone felt he was the right one for the job. Now, the ratings have come out and they are proving otherwise. Keep reading for more details.
Ryan Seacrest’s Premiere Brings Jaw-Dropping Ratings
Many people were confused about whether Ryan Seacrest was the proper replacement for Pat Sajak. He had been the host of Wheel of Fortune for over forty years and was a staple of the game show. Yet, it was time for him to move on and for someone new to take the reins. A few names floated around and Ryan seemed perfect as he has amazing hosting experience. He has hosted American Idol since the beginning, and co-hosted Live! With Kelly, has his own radio show, and took over Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin‘ Eve.
Despite all of this, fans were still unsure and felt he may be too overexposed. On September 9th, Ryan and Vanna White walked out onto the Wheel of Fortune stage together for the first time. It was received far better than many expected though viewers did struggle with the updated set. That was a bit of an eyesore but the reviews for Ryan were generally positive and that was reflected in the ratings. According to Monsters & Critics, his debut was a huge success.

Ryan Seacrest’s premiere, which marked the beginning of Season 42, averaged a 4.62 household rating. That is compared to Season 41 which had 2.94. For percentage’s sake, it was a 57% leap. More information about the ratings will be known within a few days as premiere week is just wrapping up. However, this is huge for Ryan’s first week, and, yes, the numbers could dip as viewers may have just wanted to see how he fared in his debut.
He’s A Success
Though some may have just watched the premiere week of Season 42 see Ryan Seacrest step into Pat Sajak’s shoes. Yet, Wheel of Fortune fans appeared to really like his hosting skills and had no problem sharing that:
- I’m loving it! There’s a higher energy to the show in my opinion. Ryan is different but it’s not throwing off the flow of the show.
- I think Ryan is doing OK. Obviously it will take some time for him to settle in.
- He appears to be a little nervous and I find it endearing. 🥹
- I’m not a big Seacrest fan but I have to admit he’s a total pro. He’s an experienced broadcaster and it shows. Contrast him with Ken Jennings, who took awhile to find his footing.
So, if that is a testament to how the ratings will continue to spike, it is looking very good for Ryan and the game show. What did you think of Ryan’s premiere? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Ryan is not a good host! Sample as that. He should not been picked.
Ryan did very well / He is more personable with the people, as he is the same way on American Idol. I like the fact he shows more enthusiasm! He will be fine. 🙂
Ryan Seacrest is doing a terrific job as host of wheel of Fortune, he is very likable the people love him, I pray he has a long run in the show
I was very surprised at how well Ryan fit in with the Wheel crowd. He is being very personable with the people on the show and in some ways I feel he is making them even more welcome than Pat S. did. I’m enjoying Wheel of Fortune as much as before.
The man just started it’s like everything else there’s a first in everything personally the man did a good job
Ryan Seacrest will ruin Wheel of Fortune as Ken Jennings did for Jeopardy.
Ryan did a great job. Happy he is on the show
I think Ryan did a great job i didn’t think I would like him but he was very good, will continue to wash him .
Ryan has done a great job. I rally wondered about him as I had never heard of him. After watching 2 of his shows I feel he is doing a good job and a good replacement for Pat.
