How Can Anna Delvey Compete on ‘DWTS’ With Ankle Monitor?
For the first time in Dancing With The Stars history, a contestant will compete with an ankle monitor. DWTS fans around the country were shocked when Anna Delvey appeared on Good Morning America with the rest of the Season 33 cast.
Her involvement in the show is one thing, but viewers’ jaws hit the floor when they realized Delvey was still wearing her ankle monitor on the set of GMA.
In fact, she’s still technically under house arrest, which means she will also have to compete with the ankle monitor. DWTS fans are wondering how this is even possible.
However, Anna Delvey assures the public she’s following the rules. Read on to see what she said.
Anna Delvey Is Legally Competing On DWTS, Even Amid Deportation Issues
Those following Anna Delvey’s case recall she was released in February 2021 for good behavior. However, ICE apprehended her shortly after for violating her visa’s conditions. Since then, she’s been under house arrest at her residence in New York City. But even so, she’s tirelessly fighting her deportation case.
In a new interview, she revealed that getting special permission to compete on Dancing With The Stars wasn’t easy. But she assures everyone she’s doing so legally.
“Well, [DWTS] approached my team and I had to request ICE for permission to travel out of state because it’s being filmed in Los Angeles and I’m based in New York,” the con artist shared with PEOPLE. “It took them about 10 days to get it through the system and to get everything approved.”
“By the time I got the approval, it was very close to the starting day so I kind of flew to LA pretty much the next day and I just decided why not?” Delvey added.
Her professional dance partner is Ezra Sosa. This is his first year as a pro and he seems genuinely enthused to compete with Anna Delvey.

The DWTS Team Is Working Around The Ankle Monitor
In a new TikTok, Anna Delvey also revealed she planned on using her ankle monitor as an accessory in the ballroom. She might even end up bedazzling it.
“If you got it, flaunt it,” Ezra chimed in during the video. He also assured the interviewer that the ankle monitor wouldn’t inhibit Delvey’s ability to dance.
