‘GMA’ Robin Roberts Had A Shocking Job As A Teen
Robin Roberts participated with other Good Morning America cast members in a segment where they all answered the same question. The various cast members were asked to remember their first jobs. When Robin spoke about her first job, it surprised many of her fans.
Here is what Robin said she did for her first job and why it is surprising.
Robin Roberts Reveals Her First Job
Robin Roberts was in the Instagram video that showed her response to the question. When asked about her first job, she stepped backstage and answered the question. Robin said that her first job was as a school bus driver.
This seemed like a strange first job, as she got the job while she was still in high school. However, her coach recommended the job to her because the school was short on bus drivers, and Robin was on the tennis team.
“I turned 18 my senior year,” Robin said. “The tennis coach said we needed a driver because we were always having to cancel our matches because we didn’t have a driver. So, I was the driver.” She told the cameraman not to “raise their eyes” when she said she had the job while still in high school.
Robin explained she went to a school in a small district in Mississippi. She admitted that when a driver called in sick, she became the substitute bus driver. “Can you imagine pulling up and your classmate sees your face behind the wheel?” Robin asked before finishing by saying, “Priceless. School bus drivers rule!”
Other Good Morning America Hosts Chime In
Robin Roberts’ job was surprising since she was a bus driver while still a student. Her other co-hosts also had some humble upbringings, and they weighed in with their first jobs as well.

Michael Strahan was a major NFL star before he started working as a daytime talk show host. He was also a star in college and high school. However, when it came to his first job, he did it while he was a teen, trying to make some extra money. Strahan said his first job was mowing lawns.
However, his first “real job” where he worked for someone was as a dishwasher in Manheim, Germany. He lived there with his family until his senior year of high school when his dad sent him to live with an uncle in Houston so he could play football and have a chance at college.
George Stephanopoulos said his first job was as a caddy, but he didn’t say anything about it. Ginger Zee said her first job was bussing tables at weddings at a country club, and she kept it even when starting on TV because the pay on TV was so low. Lara Spencer said her first job was shoveling snow as a kid.
