The fall television season appears it could start later than hoped for many shows. It also looks like this will include the One Chicago franchise. There have been announcements on a few shows that just had their season premieres moved. While it hasn’t been announced yet, it almost seems certain Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. are following suit.

Here is what we know about the One Chicago shows.

The Presidential Election Is Pushing Back Premieres

The 2024 Presidential election isn’t until November, but there are a lot of things that will happen leading up to it. This includes a couple of more debates and some other television events. These events are going to preempt television shows and some series are pushing back their premieres as a result.

NBC has pushed The Irrational season premiere back thanks to the 2024 vice presidential debate between Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz and U.S. Senator JD Vance. That debate takes place on Tuesday, October 1, when The Irrational was scheduled to premiere. Instead, it will premiere on October 8.

Accused was also supposed to premiere on October 1 on Fox, but it was also moved back. Due to the debate, the second episode of FOX’s Murder in a Small Town will air in a special time slot on October 1.

It looks like it will also happen to Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD.

Why Will Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, or Chicago PD End Up Delayed?

Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD have scheduled premiere dates of September 25. All three shows return on the same night, with the first airing at 8/7c and the last at 10/9c on NBC. However, there is a new problem.

Presidential candidate Donald Trump invited Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris to an NBC News debate on September 25. If the two meet in this debate, NBC will push all three One Chicago shows off to a later premiere date. It is expected that the network might already be planning for an October 2 premiere just in case the debate happens on September 25.

No schedule changes have been announced yet. NBC is likely waiting to see if the debate will happen that night. If it does, nothing should change except for the late start. The only fallout would likely be one less week during the mid-season break over the holidays.

If the shows are preempted and the premiere date changes, we will let you know what to expect from the returning Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD.

What are your thoughts on Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD possibly getting preempted for the presidential debate? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
