‘Drake & Josh’ Reunion On The Table?
Is a Drake & Josh reunion on the table for the near future? Drake Bell and Josh Peck starred as the main characters in the hit Nickelodeon sitcom. Yet, the show has not aired new episodes since 2007 and they have both gone off to do their own things. So, could they get the gang back together? Drake & Josh Reunion On The Table?
Drake Bell and Josh Peck played stepbrothers Drake Parker and Josh Nichols on the hit sitcom Drake & Josh. It ran for four seasons and over fifty episodes and also starred Miranda Cosgrove. They got into trouble together but always had a great friendship and had each other’s backs. The series lived on through reruns and streaming and there was supposed to be a revival but that was shelved as Drake found himself in hot water. He was brought up on child endangerment charges so things got messy.
Now, it appears that the show may go on with both main characters reprising their beloved characters. Back in 2023, Miranda Cosgrove was still optimistic about the series coming back. Now, according to Entertainment Weekly, Drake has been trying to work on a reunion with Josh. However, they would be straying from the characters fans know and love and go into something fun and fresh. Drake said he would love to work with Josh but added this:
“We’ve talked about it. But I also didn’t want to do it when everyone was doing the reboots.”
So, what exactly would he want to do? Drake Bell knows that reboots are everywhere, especially in the Nickelodeon sphere. Therefore, he wants it to stand out:
“If we’re going to do something, it should be more special. Let’s hit ’em with a bang instead of, ‘Oh, another reboot.'”
Drake shared he would like to do “buddy comedies” with Josh Peck if things could go that way:
“I don’t think I would do us playing the characters from the show, or having [Cosgrove’s] Meg. I think, luckily for us, it’s our names, so we can still play Drake and Josh. But I think it’d be funnier if we go on to doing other buddy comedies, you know? Something that is kind of a surprise, a little different. It would be more interesting.”
Speaking His Truth
Drake Bell would get to have a fresh start after he spoke out on the docuseries, Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV. He shared how he was sexually abused by Brian Peck, a dialogue coach for The Amanda Show. Fortunately, he has gotten nothing but love from what he has had to say:
“There’s been a ton of support. And when you are diving into something like that, you are very trepidatious. It’s an emotional roller coaster. You don’t know how people are going to react, or what’s going to happen, or what the aftermath is going to be.”
As for his relationship with Josh Peck, there has been speculation they do not get along. However, Drake Bell made it clear that they are just fine and Josh even helped him work through what he shared in the docuseries. Hopefully, they can find a fun project to utilize their talents and shine together again.
