Kim & Olivia Plath To Blame For Ethan’s Mental Problems?
In the current season of Welcome To Plathville, Ethan Plath is deeply struggling with how life is going. Are Kim and Olivia Plath to blame for the mental state Ethan is currently facing?
Ethan Plath Has Been Changing
Undeniably, Welcome To Plathville has highlighted how difficult it has been for Ethan and Olivia Plath through their marriage. While they were very young when they entered their marriage, they both grew up during the first five seasons of the show. Previously, Olivia has admitted when the contracts were being drawn up to make the show, the producers wanted her and Ethan to be part of it or they didn’t plan to film. Reluctantly, the newlyweds opted to take part in the series.
But over time, the mess between Olivia and Kim began to chip away at Olivia and Ethan Plath’s marriage. Without a doubt, Olivia was experiencing new freedoms and exploring who she was during the early seasons. Likewise, Ethan changed through the seasons as well. He went from a young naive boy to a man weighed down with stress, anger, and deep sadness. But are Kim and Olivia to blame for his mental struggles?
Are Kim & Olivia Plath To Blame For Ethan’s Mental Problems?
While Ethan Plath was often portrayed as a “happy-go-lucky” guy in the first season, his mental health began to decline as the series progressed. Instead of the sweet, fun-loving character he was in the beginning his countenance quickly showed he was struggling. Although they originally were brought together by their parents, the tables turned after marriage. Olivia Plath butted heads with Kim Plath in the first season and soon it was the rip in the fabric of Plathville. Undeniably, Kim and Barry Plath were unsure how to handle the “rebellious” spirit they believed Olivia showed.
That led to Ethan siding with his wife and pulling away from the life off the grid he had known before marriage. However, the turmoil between Olivia and Kim continued to poison the marriage. Ethan became very angry about how his family acted toward them and held to the reigns of keeping his marriage together. Unfortunately, as both Ethan and Olivia started embracing life outside of their religious upbrings, they realized they were coming apart at the seams. Through their earlier separation, they learned about each other and moved away from the Plaths to give more space for their marriage to grow. Ultimately, it wasn’t enough to save the marriage. In Season 5 they announced their separation and headed toward divorce.
Kim Played A Role In Ethan’s Pain
Sadly, Olivia Plath isn’t the only one that affected Ethan’s demeanor. While Season 6 shows Ethan regaining some of his joy back after the decision to divorce, he is still struggling. When he met up with Moriah Plath she revealed he was refraining from drinking since he was going through such a tough time with the divorce. Additionally, he and Kim Plath aren’t quite reconciled. Although they are making more effort with one another, an upcoming preview reveals Ethan doesn’t know how to navigate reconnecting with Kim.
Undoubtedly, she has no idea how much she has hurt him through the years. Furthermore, it is a mix of regretting how things were with Olivia and resentment for how his parents raised him and his siblings. Since both Ethan and Kim dug their heels in and wouldn’t budge when it came to apologizing early on, the relationship was strained from then on.
Olivia Plath Doesn’t Pull The Plug
During Season 5, Olivia and Ethan Plath’s relationship hit a brick wall when they learned they neither one wanted to compromise anymore. Both felt betrayed and they opted to end the union. In the current season of Welcome To Plathville, some believe that Olivia Plath is stringing Ethan along. Although she is adamant the marriage can’t continue, she seems to try and let Ethan go through his process of separation on his terms. But some people think she gives him false hope by offering any delay in the divorce. Likewise, when Olivia saw a fortune-teller, and it was baffling the reading points to her getting back together with Ethan. However, the tarot card reader alludes to both Ethan and Olivia having other relationships in between before they reconcile. Perhaps it is influencing her to drag her feet on finalizing the divorce.
Kim And Olivia Plath Fail Ethan
Seemingly, both Kim and Olivia Plath have failed Ethan along the way. But he has played a role in the relationships as well. Undeniably, his communication was lacking in many aspects which led to further confusion and tension in both relationships with Olivia and his mom. Olivia notes that his indecision helped her make up her mind when wanting to leave the marriage. However, both Kim and Olivia created environments that caused Ethan a great deal of pain.
Undoubtedly he is reviewing the events that took place. Seemingly he doesn’t understand why he is required to choose between his wife or his family. Without a doubt, Welcome To Plathville shows Ethan gets more raw and honest about his feelings than ever before. Sadly, he seems to have masked his emotions so frequently, he didn’t even understand how he felt. Hopefully, as he opens up to date others he will learn more about himself and his views on the world outside of other people’s opinions. His mental struggles will require him to face the underlying issues and confront them.
