Blake Lively ‘It Ends With Us’ Feud Rumors Explained

Based On A Colleen Hoover Book
It Ends With Us is a novel by popular author Colleen Hoover. The book was released in 2016 to stellar reviews. The novel follows protagonist Lily Bloom as she navigates post-college life and love. She eventually falls for neurosurgeon, Ryle, but their relationship is fraught with drama.
While the novel is billed a romance novel, it touches upon the topic of domestic violence. A sequel, It Starts With Us, came out in 2022. The rights to the book were sold to Justin Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios production company and Blake Lively was cast as Lily in 2023. Justin Baldoni stars in the movie as Ryle and also directed the flick.
Blake Lively Feuding With It Ends With Us Co-Star?
Blake Lively is one of the most popular actresses but she’s getting major heat on social media about rumored diva behavior on the set of It Ends With Us. The actress shot to fame as Serena van der Woodsen on the CW show Gossip Girl. The original ran for six seasons but the HBO Max reboot was canceled after just two seasons.
She married actor Ryan Reynolds in 2012 and the couple welcomed their fourth child last year. She’s been on a major media blitz to promote her new movie, but eagle-eyed celeb watchers noticed something strange that eventually led to rumors of a feud.
Justin Baldoni has been doing the majority of his press for It Ends With Us solo while Blake Lively and some of the other cast do joint interviews. According to PEOPLE magazine, Blake Lively and Colleen Hoover don’t follow Baldoni on social media.
So, what happened behind the scenes?
Allegedly, the Hollywood power couple of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds threw their weight around and tried to take creative control of the film. There is even speculation that there are two different versions of the film – one based on Baldoni’s vision and the other on Blake and Ryan’s.
Blake Lively said herself that her husband wrote at least one scene in the movie. But the rumor is that the studio sided with the director and his cut was the one released. It Ends With Us hit theaters on Friday, August 9, and will likely hit streaming in a few months.
Justin Baldoni’s Shady Response To Rumors
Aside from her comment about Ryan Reynolds helping with the movie, Blake hasn’t addressed rumors of a feud. However, Justin Baldoni seemed to allude to backstage drama during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.
He was asked if he would return to direct a sequel. He didn’t say no, but said to ask him again in a while, after he takes a vacation. Baldoni appeared to throw a little shade at Blake Lively in his response.
“I think there are better people for that one. I think Blake Lively is ready to direct. That’s what I think.”
