Many recent news updates indicated that former American Pickers star Frank Fritz was slowly improving. However, a recent court battle shows that he is still in dire need of help, and things might be worse than many fans expected. This battle is between his conservator and the bank that holds some of his wealth.

Frank Fritz Needs Skilled Long-Term Nursing Care
Frank’s long-time friend, Chris David, serves as his court-appointed guardian. Meanwhile, MidWestOne Bank is Frank’s conservator. There have been past problems with MidWestOne Bank, which didn’t get paperwork turned in on time to the courts and faced sanctions as a result. Now, the bank is headed back to court.
According to reports, MidWestOne Bank has demanded that all Frank’s finances be transferred to them so they can “invest to start generating income” for the former American Pickers star. According to the court papers, Frank has cash assets and credit accounts at a different bank, and MidWestOne Bank wants all his investments with them (via The U.S. Sun).
The reason is that MidWestOne Bank says that Frank, 60, needs “skilled” and “long-term” nursing care two years after he suffered his stroke. “Since the approval of the plan, the Conservator has repeatedly contacted [the bank] seeking access to the Protected Party’s funds, credit card statements and income tax documents to no avail,” the bank claims.
They also say that “[Frank] continues to rely on long-term skilled nursing care, so it is imperative that his assets are properly managed and wisely invested to support his long-term needs.” The bank says the other institution ignores their authority as Conservator and the court’s orders. They also demanded that all consumer credit cards and accounts be closed, as Frank no longer uses them.

The judge at the hearing on July 19 ordered the bank to respond to the conservator and provide access to all bank accounts and credit cards controlled by Frank. MidWestOne Bank says this is important since skilled long-term nursing is expensive.
MidWestOne Bank serves as Frank Fritz’s conservator. They pledge to invest his money and collections to generate income during his recovery. Chris Davis is his guardian and is there to help Frank manage his Crohn’s disease, go to physical therapy, and do day-to-day tasks, such as shopping. MidWestOne Bank also helps replenish Freank’s antique store.
The conservatorship has also ensured that a wheel-chair ramp and more have been installed at his home. Frank’s monthly expenses are $28,292. Of that money, $22,832 is for the in-home health care. This means he pays $273,984 a year for his healthcare.
Long-term nursing care is often needed for many people who experience trauma, such as Frank. The long-term care is needed to ensure he remains safe and continues to improve as they recover from his stroke. It has been said that Frank is improving daily. However, since it was a severe stroke, the road is still a long one.
