‘Law & Order: SVU’ Release Date, Season Info Released
Law & Order: SVU is one of the longest-running police procedural shows on TV. It is about to start its 26th season, a record-extending run for a live-action TV drama. The network has now revealed its release date and what fans might expect from the franchise this upcoming season.
Here is what you need to know about Law & Order: SVU and its 26th season.
Law & Order: SVU Release Date
NBC renewed Law & Order: SVU for its record-extending 26th season on the network. While the network did upset some fans by moving Law & Order: Organized Crime to Peacock, it looks like SVU will remain attached to the original series on Thursday nights.
“Alert your squad and mark your calendars: NEW seasons of #LawAndOrder & #SVU return Thursday, October 3rd to @NBC,” the show’s social media team posted on Instagram. This is a little bit later than usual, but it reveals that SVU will return on October 3.
The fall schedule sees SVU airing at 9/8c on NBC every Thursday. The original Law & Order will air its 24th season on Thursday nights at 8/7c on NBC (it was off the air from 2010 to 2022, which is why there are fewer seasons). Since NBC moved Organized Crime to Peacock, Found will air its second season at 10/9c after SVU.
There are also rumors that SVU will still have a crossover with Organized Crime, even with the latter show moving to Peacock.
NBC Announces Full Fall 2024 Season Schedule
NBC is keeping things mostly like fans are used to. Wednesday nights will continue to be One Chicago night, with Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. airing that night. Mondays and Tuesdays will continue to air The Voice, with Brilliant Minds joining it on Mondays and The Irractional on Tuesdays.

Brilliant Minds is the only new NBC series in the upcoming season. The show stars Zachary Quinto (Heroes) as Dr. Oliver Wolf, a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist, and his team of interns as they explore the human mind. The medical drama is about dealing with mental health issues. It is based on the real-life Dr. Oliver Wolf Sacks. Robin Williams’ movie Awakenings is also based on Sacks’ life.
Like Found, The Irrational is also entering its second season.
The comedy block is on Friday nights, with Reba McEntire’s Happy’s Place followed by George Lopez’s Lopez vs. Lopez. Two returning shows will not return until after the presidential election: St. Denis Medical (returning on November 12) and Night Court (returning on November 19).
