Kellie Pickler Battling Late Husband Kyle’s Parents

Kellie Pickler is going to court in a legal battle with her late husband’s parents. According to reports, Kellie and Kyle Jacobs’ parents are fighting over his personal property in a legal case. Kellie and Kyle began dating in 2008. They got married in 2011. On February 17, 2023, Kye died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was 49. Kellie, heartbroken after his death, declined to serve as administrator of Kyle’s estate. Reed and Sharon took it upon themselves.

That is what caused all the problems.

In her legal filings, Kellie explained that Kyle’s parents created a document titled “List of Assets.” The couple then demanded that Kellie deliver these items to their legal counsel via subpoena. Kellie’s attorney wrote, “Included in the List of Assets are items that [Kellie] either does not have in her possession or over which right, title and possession are disputed” (via In Touch Weekly).

Kellie also claims that Kyle’s parents entered her home after his death and removed items. She said they had never provided a list of items they took from the home. Kellie’s lawsuit demands a list of the items and wants the courts to resolve the battle over this property.

Kyle’s Parents Don’t Believe In His Suicide

Kyle’s parents have concerns about his death. They do not believe that he died by suicide and asked that his body be exhumed to determine the cause of death. In their Subpena sent to Kellie, they demanded his guns, laptop, cellphone, and hard drives.

“[Kellie] and her counsel have provided conflicting information regarding the location and rightful possession of the items listed and, as set forth hereinabove, have admitted [Kellie] is in possession of several items of property of [Kyle],” Kyle’s parents said.

They also deny taking things from Kellie’s home, saying that they only obtained things from the garage. They claim Kellie said they didn’t need to provide her with a list of the items they took. Reed and Sharon also have the prenup and demand Kellie’s petition be dismissed.

  1. All assets should go to the spouse. Kellie can argue that the reason she didn’t want to be the executor at the time was because of all the grief and chaos surrounding his death.
