Kelly Thiebaud Reveals Why She’s Not Returning To ‘GH’
Kelly Thiebaud left General Hospital in 2023. Her character was killed off in a brutal on-screen death. But now that Steve Burton is back, fans hope the actress might return. Why isn’t she? Keep reading to see her answer.
Will Britt’s Killer Be Redeemed?
Britt Westbourne came to Port Charles in 2012 as a love interest of Dr. Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson.) She caused a lot of trouble in Patrick’s relationship with Robin (Kimberly McCullough,) earning the nickname “Brit The Bitch.”
Shortly after arriving in PC, it was revealed that Britt’s mother was the villainess Dr. Liesl Obrecht. Kelly Thiebaud played the role off and on from the very beginning until she left the show for good in 2023. According to Soap Hub, the actress requested for the soap to kill her character off.
Britt was the victim of a serial killer tormenting Port Charles. Heather Webber was later revealed to be The Hook Killer. The Wonder Years star Alley Mills was playing Heather during the murders. Soap vet Robin Mattson previously played the character.
It seems impossible to redeem a serial killer, but anything is possible on soap operas. Heather Webber is currently in her redemption era.
Kelly Thiebaud Reveals Why She’s Not Returning To GH
Before her death, Britt had a fling with Jason (Steve Burton) that had fans wanting more. He was presumed dead when she was murdered, so he was unaware of her death when he returned to Port Charles very much alive earlier this year.
If the show can resurrect Jason, can’t they resurrect Britt? According to the actress, the show doesn’t want to bring Britt back. She shared photos on her Instagram of a recent trip out to L.A. She moved overseas after leaving the soap, though she has moved back to the U.S. since then. One fan wrote in the comments that they thought the actress was returning to GH.
Kelly Thiebaud replied by saying that she tried to go back to the daytime soap. She didn’t give more details about when this happened.
Fans Don’t Have Much Sympathy
Britt may have been a fan-favorite character, but a lot of GH fans don’t have any sympathy for Kelly Thiebaud after the soap turned down her attempt to come back. Fans of the ABC show took to Reddit to share their thoughts.
- I would rather have her back than SEVERAL current cast members (including Sam🙈) buttttttt the actress specifically asked to be killed off in a very permanent manner. It’s kind of an f around and find out scenario. You want to be careful when you quit any job.
- Britt was my favorite character and Kelly was one of the better actors too. However, she wanted to take a big risk and made sure she couldn’t use a soft exit of her character as a crutch if she failed. Unfortunately, she kind of shot herself in the foot
- It was foolish of her to ask for a preferred method of exit and even more foolish of GH to indulge her. She was a popular character with the potential for more good stories, so they could have come up with ways to make her disappear for a time.
- If she really did ask to be killed off, I kinda think that was dumb. Never burn a bridge you may need to walk back over.
- She could definitely show up as a new character if they wanted her badly enough. I guess they don’t.
- She thought winning a daytime Emmy would get her big jobs and she found out she’s not special. She can go to another soap.
