New Amazon Prime Series ‘Cross’ Gets Premiere Date
Amazon Prime fans who love series like Bosch or Reacher will want to check out the new crime thriller series Cross. Aldis Hodge portrays the lead character Alex Cross.
This new series is based on the James Patterson series of novels. Here is everything fans need to know now.
What Is Amazon Prime’s Cross About?
What is the new Amazon Prime series Cross about? According to People, the main character Detective Alex Cross is “a detective and forensic psychologist, uniquely capable of digging into the psyches of killers and their victims, in order to identify – and ultimately capture – the murderers.”
Cross Is Based On James Patterson’s Novels Of The Same Name
The new Amazon Prime series Cross is based on James Patterson’s novels. The first was released in 1993. Since then, there have been 31 novels and two novellas. Patterson even wrote three books with Alex’s son Ali as the main character.
Most of all, the 77-year-old novelist is an executive producer of this series, not unlike Michael Connolly with the Bosch series. This participation seems to work for the streamer. Moreover, Patterson is very happy with the result.
Speaking to Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, the bestselling author revealed last month that this is his favorite adaptation.
That’s the first one where I really can look at and go like, ‘Yep. It’s edgier.’ It’s more realistic about police work, I really like the way that turned out.
Of course, the showrunner is the incomparable Ben Watkins who cut his teeth writing for, and executive producing Burn Notice, one of the most highly-rated detective thriller series ever made. It is no surprise that Amazon has already renewed Cross for Season 2.
When Does Cross Premiere On Amazon Prime?
The eight-episode Cross Season 1 will drop on Thursday, November 14 on Amazon Prime. The streamer has not revealed when they will start production on Season 2.
