For years, Ellen DeGeneres was a staple on television. She had her own sitcom, Ellen, which ran for four years. It lasted from 1994 to 1998 and aired over 100 episodes. In 2003, she landed her own talk show. It was highly successful and every celebrity and musician wanted to be a guest on it. She would dance her way onto the stage, amping the audience up with the late Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss as the house DJ. By the end of her run in 2022, Ellen had won 33 Daytime Emmy Awards. While hosting the talk show, Ellen also hosted the game show, Ellen’s Game of Games.

Finally, young fans knew her as the voice of Dory in Finding Nemo and Finding Dory. So, there are many people who have been awaiting the return of Ellen. Therefore, it was quite a thrill when she announced that she was going on tour back in April 2024. Now, according to The Sun, that has stopped with no explanation. She had started the tour out slowly, with only a few cities. However, it was quickly rising in popularity so she kept adding more and by the end, she had 20 cities. Unfortunately, she has just canceled four of the dates with no reason given.

The four dates Ellen DeGeneres canceled are Dallas on July 10, San Francisco on July 20, Seattle on July 22, and Chicago on August 10. So, how did attendees find out that they no longer had an event to go to? Through a statement released by Ticketmaster:

“Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event. You don’t need to do a thing. We’ll issue a refund to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, as soon as funds are received from the Event Organizer. It should appear on your account within 14-21 days.”

Clearly, there are no plans to reschedule these shows and now, it has fans wondering if the rest of the tour will face the same fate.

What Happened?

So, why did Ellen DeGeneres cancel these particular tour dates? It seems that is unclear as one fan had this to say about the situation:

• I bought tickets to the Dallas show and you’re just not telling fans why you canceled last minute? We deserve an explanation the least you can do.

Ellen has been under fire in the past. Her talk show was the subject of toxic work environment allegations which did not help her image. The one thing about the sixty-six-year-old is that she was always known for being happy, warm, loving, and giving. However, these allegations were completely contradictory to the Ellen fans grew to know and love.
