‘RHONY’ Alum Vying For Role As First ‘Golden Bachelorette’
A beloved former star of Bravo’s Real Housewives of New York is reportedly vying for the coveted role in the upcoming first-ever season of The Golden Bachelorette.
Fans of both shows are buzzing with speculation about the potential reality TV crossover. Could this be the moment that The Bachelor goes outside the franchise for the lead?
RHONY Reboot Renewed For Another Season
The Real Housewives of New York City debuted in 2008 as the second installment of what would be Bravo’s most popular franchise. But after 13 seasons, the entire RHONY cast was replaced with younger stars. Season 14 of the rebooted show premiered in summer 2023 to stellar ratings.
Bravo confirmed last month that the show had been renewed for Season 15 with Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, and Brynn Whitfield all returning.
The network didn’t cut ties with the OG NY Housewives. Luann de Lesseps, Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan, and Ramona Singer were part of Season 5 of an Ultimate Girls spinoff. Kelly Killoren Bensimon and Kristen Taekman joined their former co-stars in Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy.
Sonja Morgan and Countess Luann also starred in a separate spinoff called Luann & Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake. The first season aired in 2023 but there hasn’t been official confirmation of another season.
Legacy Alum Vying For Role As First Golden Bachelorette
The name “housewives” is a misnomer for the Bravo franchise. Very few of the women are married. RHONY viewers watched Ramona Singer’s marriage to Mario crumble prior to their divorce in 2015.
Luann was married to French Count Alexandre de Lesseps until 2019. She was also briefly married to Tom D’Agostino Jr. Sonja was married to John Adams Morgan from 1998 until 2006.

Luann de Lesseps put her name in contention for the role during a chat with Life & Style. “It’s perfect for me,” she said of the popular dating show.
She added that ABC hasn’t reached out to her, but she hopes to “manifest” it into happening.
The RHONY star joins a long list of celebrities vying for the spot. Soap star Susan Lucci was reportedly approached, as was Kathie Lee Gifford.
The Golden Bachelorette is rumored to begin filming soon, but ABC has yet to officially announce the lead. It will air this fall. Season 21 of The Bachelorette with Jenn Tran airs this summer.
