Which Two Of John Legend’s ‘Voice’ Team Members Got Hitched?
Recently, The Voice team leader, John Legend, revealed that two of his former team members got hitched. While discussing the bonds of the teams, John gave a great example by talking about two people meeting and wedding after the show.
The Voice Brings People Together
On the Monday, March 25 episode of The Voice, two of Team Chance the Rapper’s contestants, Bri Fletcher and Serenity Arce, were forced to compete in the Battles. Admittedly, Chance initially put them together because of their affinity for “emotional music.” But it led to a moment of deep feelings and shed tears for the competitors and Chance was nearly brought to tears as well. However, in interviews, Senenity has been candid about the closeness between her and Bri throughout the show. Undeniably, it was hard for her to think about one of them not making it out of the Knockouts. Further, Serenity says, “It’s kind of a huge message for me. I’ve made a lot of friendships in this competition, especially Bri, and I think that I really channeled that in the song. At some point, people have to go and stay and it’s just a lot.”
John Legend Reflects On Past Contestants’ Closeness
After Serenity Arce explained the reason for the big emotions, John Legend reflected on some other close relationships on The Voice. Undoubtedly, John has many talents, but maybe matchmaker is a new part of his repertoire. While two of his team members were sharpening their skills, they also created a close enough bond to pursue marriage after the show ended. John says, “I love when I see Artists collaborating together, becoming friends.” For instance, he recalls, “I even had Artists on my team who got married to each other from a few seasons ago.” While he didn’t mention names, he was referring to Season 19 contestants John Holiday and Rio Souma. Then John continues, “I love that you all embrace the spirit of what this is. That was really beautiful, thank you for that.”
All’s Well That Ends Well
While part of The Voice is elimination, it is hard when you develop relationships along the way. Although it is bittersweet, finding lifelong friends or even a spouse is worth the exciting ride. At the time, John Holiday performed his version of Misty for his Blind Audition. Remarkably it was a three-chair turn by John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Gwen Stefani. Sneakily adding spice, John blocks Kelly in hopes of drawing John Holiday to his team. At the end of Season 19, Holiday slides into fifth place. However, Rio Souma’s fate didn’t go the way of his planning. While he made Team Legend, sadly, his elimination came during his Battle with Casme on You’re All I Need to Get By.
John Legend Helped Propell John Holiday’s Dream
After John Legend gave John Holiday voice coaching during The Voice Season 19, he went on to release a single. In 2021, Parade interviewed John Holiday about the debut single Alive in Me. During the discussion, he said it was a song about love surviving through all challenges. Additionally, he told the outlet, about his struggles as a young, gay Black kid. Admittedly, Holiday says he was searching for something that “represented love and that represented the ideal of searching for love and surrender.”
Unmistakably, he had found that in Rio Souma. Furthermore, Holiday was surrendering his love to Souma. He tells Parade, “Being able to do that is something that’s really, really important to me, to share and give love, to share that space, that energy of love, and share it with everybody.” Notably, their engagement was in the summer of 2021, followed by marriage on July 30, 2022.
