‘Yellowstone’ Season 5, Part 2 Could Include John Dutton Hints Josh Lucas
Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 should start filming soon. There are a lot of questions about the final block of episodes of the Taylor Sheridan-created series. Thankfully Josh Lucas, who portrays young John Dutton III shared some information that hints at what is to come in the Paramount drama.

Could John Dutton Still Be Part Of Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2?
Much has been said about Kevin Costner likely not returning for the final Yellowstone episodes. However, thanks to a Friday Deadline interview with Josh Lucas, they hint that there will be a John Dutton appearing, but “It just may not be the John who fans were expecting.”
According to their interview with Lucas, he revealed that “as far as he knows” he will be part of the final episodes of the Paramount series. He shared, “I did text Taylor [Sheridan] a couple of months back and said, ‘Hey man, I’ve loved working on the show so much. He’s like, ‘Well we’ll be back.'”
Sounds Like Season 5 Will Go Back In Time
Should Josh Lucas return to Yellowstone for Season 5, Part 2, that would mean that there would be a flashback to the past. This is a significant clue should Kevin Costner not return to the series. When Costner was in court during his messy Hollywood divorce, he revealed that he was not returning for any more of the Paramount series.
However, he did reveal that in July, he was in negotiations for Season 6 and Season 7. Although those negotiations broke down, this was huge news. That is because, in May 2023, the network had already announced that the remainder of Season 5 would be the end of the series.
How Many Episodes In Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2?
Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 is slated to premiere in November. However, there has not been a confirmation of how many episodes there will be to complete the series. According to Josh Lucas, there will be “10 or more so episodes.”
Finishing the series off with 10 episodes would be a fitting gesture to the millions of loyal fans. They will have been waiting nearly two years for the final installment to finish out when it is finally released. Originally, the second half of Season 5 was set to premiere in the Summer of 2023. But, there were many delays internally, as well as the two major strikes.
Kevin Costner was not available for more than a week or so due to his Horizon filming schedule. Add that Taylor Sheridan did not have the scripts ready. Then, the WGA and the SAG-AFTRA strike shut down Hollywood for nearly six months.
However, Season 5 production should be fairly soon, and those loyal fans will finally get the series ending.

All seasons of Yellowstone are currently available to stream on Peacock. As of now, CBS has not announced whether they will air Season 4.
