Much of what Savannah Chrisley has talked about recently is her parents and how she hopes they will be home very soon. Todd and Julie Chrisley were sentenced to nineteen years behind bars collectively and started serving in January 2023. Both are in different states with Todd in Florida whereas Julie is serving her time in Kentucky. Though their sentences have been reduced slightly, the hope is that they can both be home ASAP. Savannah has had the responsibility of raising the two youngest Chrisleys, Grayson and Chloe. This has not been easy as she has continued to work and helm her Unlocked podcast.
Now, she is opening up and shocking her fans with a jaw-dropping admission. Yet, what could it possibly be? According to Page Six, Savannah spoke up and out upon leaving the hit FOX reality series, The Masked Singer. She just appeared as a contestant on the show which was a shocker in itself. So, what did she share?
“I was so tone-deaf. I lived such a privileged life. I didn’t [ever] have to endure any of these things, and so, to me, if it wasn’t happening to me, it wasn’t happening at all.”
Admittedly, the reality star says that she was “ignorant.”
More so, she wants to be a cautionary tale for others who see what she has gone through. Aside from what it has done to her as a person, Savannah Chrisley feels more in touch with the prison system.
“It really started to alarm me just how broken and abusive our system is. When you go in and you actually look at the abuse, the sexual abuse … the fact that they’re consuming food that says not for human consumption … we should not have a system that is full of abuse. We’re abusing our own men and women, and that is not something that I can stand for. Regardless of what someone has done, there should be no place and time that our taxpayer dollars are going to basically subsidize abusive behavior.”
Fighting Back
It is no secret that with Savannah Chrisley being so open and honest about her parents’ situation it has gotten worse. Her mother, Julie Chrisley has been treated horribly by male guards while her father cannot speak privately to his lawyer. For the family, the hope is that all that they have said will bring about positive changes in the long run to the system but time will tell. The biggest change right now is that Savannah has taken the time to self-reflect and she has learned so much about who she was.
