Matthew Perry: Celeb Tributes Pour In After Actor Dies At 54
It was a shock when news broke that Matthew Perry had died at the age of 54. The cause of death seems to be drowning in his jacuzzi, no foul play. Though the Friends star had struggled with addiction for most of the series’ ten-year run, he had been sober since 2021. At the time of his passing, he also had called off his engagement and was seemingly single. As for his career, Perry had transitioned from actor to author with his bestselling memoir, Friends, Lovers, & the Big Terrible Thing. Of course, it was only a matter of time before the tributes from friends and celebrities started to pour in upon news of his passing.
According to People, many took to Twitter/X, to share their heartfelt thoughts and sadness. Morgan Fairchild, who played Chandler Bing’s mother on Friends, expressed her heartbreak. Comedian, Tom Green was also devastated as was Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. They were mates in school back in the day.
I’m heartbroken about the untimely death of my “son”, Matthew Perry. The loss of such a brilliant young actor is a shock. I’m sending love & condolences to his friends & family, especially his dad, John Bennett Perry, who I worked with on Flamingo Road & Falcon Crest. #RIPMatthew pic.twitter.com/QWMsBVJEAr

Over On Instagram
Twitter/X was not the only social media platform to see immense love for Matthew Perry. Shannen Doherty, who appeared alongside the actor in an episode of BH90210, sent out a message on Instagram. She noted how they were always having a great time, singling out a few choice friends who the two caused shenanigans with. More so, in the end, she added he was always that funny. Alyssa Milano echoed Doherty’s sentiments about how he was chronically funny to the point where he made her “cry-laugh.” Furthermore, she said he was kind.
Others who sent love, shock, and sadness were Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis, Josh Gad, and Nancy Sinatra who encouraged everyone to read his book. Many are awaiting word from his five close Friends co-stars but clearly, this is not something they will be able to soon recover from
