On her Instagram page, the mom of two recently posted a couple of snaps of her daughters as she took some time away from the talk show.

Today Host Fesses Up About ‘Tone Of Voice’
On Friday’s episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna, Hoda Kotb sat down with her co-host Jenna Bush Hager and shared an important story with viewers. During this relatable conversation, Hoda talked about the tone of voice she uses with her daughters. Of course, many parents encourage their kids to speak respectfully and not raise their voices when it’s not necessary to do so. But now, the mom of two has had an important realization about this.
Hoda explained to Jenna that she had learned a huge lesson from Hope. She went through the whole conversation that had recently happened and said, “[She] asked me, ‘Mom, how come you use the tone of voice you tell us not to use? How come you use it on us sometimes?'”
This was pretty surprising to Hoda. For a moment, the Today host didn’t know how to respond because she was called out by her little girl. Then, the mom of two said, “I said, ‘Well, sometimes I use that tone because it’s very serious. I really want you to listen, okay? It’s a serious matter. It’s not like the fun stuff. When I use that tone it’s because it’s serious.”
She continued, “Yeah, sometimes we have to do that. And [Hope and Haley] were like, ‘Yeah, but you tell us not to.’ And they’re laughing and joking around.”
Then, she reminded her friend, Jenna, and their viewers of a very important parenting lesson. She said, “What we say comes echoing right back to us.” By sharing this story, Hoda fessed up to sometimes using the wrong tone with her girls. Of course, many parents can relate to that.
Hoda Kotb enjoyed having this conversation with her daughters because she doesn’t always have the opportunity to do so. She appreciated being able to talk about it without “crying and chaos.”
