‘Today’ Host Savannah Guthrie Gone & Replaced
Today host Savannah Guthrie is gone and has been replaced. Though she’s a regular part of the cast, she occasionally takes time off, as do the other hosts. But her absence was especially noticed today, Wednesday, August 16. So, where did the talk show star go? Keep reading for all of the details about her sudden disappearance.
The Today host skips work & announces a big career move.
There’s a lot going on in Savannah’s life at the moment. She’s had career moves and a pretty busy schedule. So, fans understand that she may be absent here and there. She recently had the opportunity to be on the cover of AllRecipes magazine.
If you’ve been keeping up with Savannah’s attendance and absences, you may have noticed she recently missed a couple of days of work. The Today host skipped work for a little bit last week so she could go to a Taylor Swift concert with her nine-year-old daughter, Vale. She then made her return to the show late last week after living her best life at the concert. She even had a chance to party alongside Law and Order star Mariska Hargitay.
Savannah Guthrie disappears again.
Fortunately, after her absence, Savannah was back on the show on Monday and Tuesday this week. However, on the Wednesday, August 16th episode of Today, she was nowhere to be found. Despite Savannah’s absence, the show went on with plenty of fan favorites filling in.
Instead of Savannah, Hoda Kotb was joined by Craig Melvin on the talk show. As fans may have noticed, Craig was previously absent due to a family vacation, and upon his return, he took over Savannah’s chair. The two didn’t mention why Savannah was gone or when she would be back. Later, on the Wednesday episode, Sheinelle Jones also made an appearance in place of Savannah.
Unfortunately, there are no details about Savannah’s absence from the show. It’s unclear where she is and why she missed the show. Fans are concerned about her and they are hopeful she will be back on Thursday.
Her most recent Instagram post is a couple of days old, so there are no hints about her absence there. Hopefully, all is well with Savannah and she just needed a little time off. In the past, when hosts have left the show for good, there have been very clear announcements. That doesn’t appear to be the case here, but there’s no way to know for sure at this time.

I would be very happy if I never had to see or hear Savannah again. I cannot be the only one that believes she has the most irritating voice on television. Turn off any interviews she is involved with and especially unhappy when she covers something that I truly want information on. Actually turned to Fox for the details which is a big no for me.

Thank you. Her voice is not made for television… but I can’t stand Hoda either and Al Roker needs to retire. Let Craig and Dillon and the other hosts run the show.. bye bye to the other three who are on and off all the time…
Jacob Soborof is such a good host when he is there. One of the best. So much better than any other replacement.

I completely agree with Marilynn. I quit watching the Today Show when Guthrie & her chicken squawk voice screeched into my mornings. That was OK because there are other alternative stations. Then I was horrified to have to hear that same awful sound during the opening ceremonies to the Olympics. How can NBC not know people all over the country feel the same way? When she tried out for Jeopardy host we read plenty of complaints about her voice again. Also, people with more tolerant ears disapprove of her homewrecker history. We want morals in the morning.
