Pat Sajak Surprised His ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Stint Lasted So Long
Pat Sajak is actually surprised that his stint as the host of Wheel of Fortune has lasted as long as it has. He has had this gig for forty seasons. Ultimately, he will retire after Season 41. Yet, despite how long he has helmed the series, Sajak seemingly still cannot believe he has made it this far. How come? Read on for more details.
Pat Sajak Surprised His Wheel Of Fortune Stint Lasted So Long
When Pat Sajak shared that he was departing Wheel of Fortune after Season 41, it was bittersweet. It definitely was time for him to hang up his hosting cap. However, he had been the face of the popular nightly game show for so long. Of course, it would be hard to imagine anyone else in his shoes. Sajak had taken over for Chuck Woolery and made the transition seamless. That is the hope when his replacement, Ryan Seacrest arrives in Fall 2024. Though the future with Vanna White still seems up in the air, they have made a dynamite team for so many years.
According to The Sun, Pat Sajak cannot believe that he has had this job for so many seasons. Apparently, an account called Chicago History posed this question recently: “If someone from 1981 suddenly woke up in 2023 what would surprise them the most?” Interestingly enough, Mr. Sajak responded. He chimed in with: “That Pat Sajak was still hosting Wheel of Fortune.” Interestingly enough, 1981 was the exact year that he started hosting the long-running series. Yet, it actually started its run in 1975.
Now, Pat Sajak has one more year left to host before he will say his goodbyes to the series, created by Merv Griffin. Ryan Seacrest is perfect to take over for him as he is a host extraordinaire. Of course, it will be an adjustment period for long-time fans, especially if Vanna White sticks around. “It’s time for Vanna White to go. That’s my Final Answer. I don’t think I am alone here,” one viewer tweeted. Pat’s daughter, Maggie has been a great presence so maybe she can be a nice replacement in the long run.
A Lot Of Changes
Wheel of Fortune has seen a lot of changes over the last few decades. Fans may remember that Vanna White would turn the letters but then that stopped. She eventually just tapped the letterboard. Now, it is operated by the people in the back and there have been some incidents. The letters have popped up before Vanna can get to them so though the show is trying to keep up with the times, fans have not always liked this. Saying goodbye to Pat Sajak will be another sign of the times but hopefully, it will be a good change.
