My 600-Lb Life fans share their filming theories
Social media is always a hotbed for the latest My 600-Lb Life discussions. As fans eagerly wait for new episodes to premiere on TLC, they often actively discuss the latest theories and patient updates.
And lately, fans have wondered why filming in Dr. Now’s office takes so long to complete.
In one Facebook group, fans debated why there’s a clear time shift between patients entering Dr. Now’s practice and when they leave.
“Why is it always light when they go into Dr. Now’s and dark outside then they get done?” the original poster asked. Other group members had no shortage of opinions. One thought that filming might take place after normal business hours for the sake of confidentiality.
It goes without saying that filming a television show takes a very long time. But what many My 600-Lb Life fans might not realize is that even filming a simple doctor’s appointment can take a significantly long time.
A few Facebook users offered this as a reason, and many agreed.
However, only those who are actively involved in the filming process know the truth. And one patient decided to share a little more about the experience.
Season 1 star Melissa Morris describes her experience while filming

And according to Melissa, filming the appointments with Dr. Now does take an incredibly long time.
“16 yrs ago on 17th, 2005 I had my very first 8 hour appointment with Dr. Younan Nowzaradan,” Melissa began her Instagram post. She went on to detail the rest of her experience during the consultation. But many fans were astonished that her first appointment took eight hours to complete.
