Matt Bomer has been forced to mourn the passing of another beloved member of the White Collar cast. The 45-year-old admits this sudden and unexpected death hit him especially hard as Treat Williams played the role of his father on TV in the USA hit series, White Collar. Matt admitted that he doesn’t usually like to pay tribute to the deceased on social media. But, he considered Treat Williams to be an absolute gem. And, he deserved a tribute worthy of the icon he was.

Treat Williams Dead In Motorcycle Accident

As Tv Shows Ace reported late last night, White Collar and Everwood star Treat Williams was confirmed dead at the age of 71. Sadly, the actor was in a motorcycle accident and he passed away from the injuries he sustained in the accident.

With just shy of 130 acting credits to his name, it is no surprise actors and actresses from all over Hollywood have taken to social media to mourn his passing. His agent of 15 years was the first of many to affirm he was genuinely a good guy who was kind to everyone.

Matt Bomer Mourns Death Of TV Father

Shortly after the news broke, Matt Bomer took to Instagram to pay tribute to the legend. He explained that he was compelled to tell people just how amazing Treat was. And, that he would be deeply missed.

Matt penned: “This is a tough one, and I don’t like doing this on social media, but I want to share what an absolute treasure Treat Williams was- both as an actor and a person.”

I was so honored that he agreed to play my father on White Collar, and he jumped in and made every day on set a joy. He taught me in the most beautiful way- through patient example. He’s one of the few actors I’ve worked with who always checked in on me – even years after we worked together.

He added as he concluded his touching tribute: “Treat- you were an amazing actor and an even better person and I will miss you. I count myself so blessed to have known you. My heart goes out to your wife and children. Rest in Peace my friend.”

White Collar Fans’ Hearts Broke For Matt Bomer

Fans of White Collar knew the cast remained close as they eyed the opportunity for a reboot. But, Treat Williams’ character wasn’t exactly considered one of the core cast members. He, however, was an important story arc that added a whole new layer of emotion to Matt Bomer’s character. So, fans were a bit surprised and overwhelmed with emotion to learn that Treat more or less remained in his “father role” as he continued to check in on Matt from time to time.

One individual penned in response to Matt’s tribute: “This is a beautiful tribute and exactly how I thought he would be. Sorry for your loss.”

“Oh no! I met Treat when I was working in Chicago on Chicago Med- I think he was doing Chicago Fire. He was so kind and fun and warm and welcoming. I am so sorry to hear about this news. And so sorry for the loss of someone close to you @mattbomer,” a director who had the pleasure of working with Treat chimed in.

A third added: “Oh man this is a tough one. Glad to be hearing it from you. Much love and carpe diem.”

In addition to fans, many heartbroken celebrities poured into the comments agreeing this was a hard Hollywood icon to say goodbye to.
