With “shattered hearts” the family issued a devasting statement to his Instagram profile noting that they had no idea how they were going to move on without him.

So many words can describe him, so many stories can be told, but at this time we’re too overwhelmed to put them into words. For those who crossed his path, became his mate, or were lucky enough to be his family, keep this proud Scot in your hearts when you have your next whisky.”

After confirming the Season 15 Premiere would be postponed, the producers of MasterChef Australia also issued a statement: “Network 10 and Endemol Shine Australia are deeply shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of Jock Zonfrillo, a beloved member of the MasterChef Australia family. Jock passed away in Melbourne yesterday.”

Sadly, Bistro Blackwood closed in 2019 and Orana followed a year later. This was when he shifted his career to television while still following his original passion for cooking. He started off as a guest judge for MasterChef Australia for Seasons 10 and 11. By Season 12, he became a permanent judge on the panel. He also went on to judge and host the spinoffs, Celebrity MasterChef Australia and Junior MasterChef Australia.
