Yellowstone Will Reportedly End With Season 5
There has been a lot of Yellowstone turmoil since early February. However, that may be ending. That is because there are new reports that the show will end with Season 5.
On Tuesday, the New York Post reported that “multiple sources” report that the series is “set to end after rest of Season 5 airs.”
A “production source” revealed, “Hopefully Kevin will return for the remaining episodes if everyone works together, but it looks like Yellowstone will end after this season.”
Over 12 million people watched the Season 5 premiere aired back in November. However, Season 5 is supersized with 14 episodes ordered. That means it will be airing in two parts. The eighth and final episode of Season 5, Part 1 premiered on Sunday, January 1. Now, they need to air the final six.
However, they still need to film those six episodes.
When Are They Filming The Remaining Yellowstone Season 5 Episodes?
Although Yellowstone Season 5 has already finished airing all eight of the Part 1 episodes, the second part has yet to be filmed. In this new report, they have not even set up a time to start production. That is because creator Taylor Sheridan didn’t have scripts ready.
For the past three months, Paramount has pointed fingers at Kevin Costner for the Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 delays. Previously, it was reported that Costner was frustrated because they were supposed to film all 14 episodes in 2022.
Those on Costner’s side reveal that Taylor Sheridan didn’t have scripts ready and filming was delayed. Kevin was not happy about that. But, it seems that the Paramount message has been focused on the Field Of Dreams star’s short availability.
In the New York Post article, one source revealed that the paper spoke to revealed that Costner was available and ready to work last year, as well as in January. But, Sheridan had nothing ready.
Now, there is a looming writer’s strike. That means more delays because once the strike begins, they can use a written script, but no new script can be created during this time.
Whenever this script is written, it sounds like it will be the end.
Hollywood Insider Blames Taylor Sheridan’s Ego, Not Kevin Costner
In this new report, “a highly-placed Hollywood source” who has previously worked with Sheridan blames ego for these delays. However, it is not Kevin Costner’s ego that they blame. Instead, they point the finger at Sheridan.
Taylor is the star of his show. He’s the most important person on all of his shows.
Sheridan’s Hollywood story was certainly rags-to-riches. The source shared, “Taylor spent years not being truly appreciated in Hollywood.” He started off as the sixth man on the call sheet for years. When playing law enforcement on Sons Of Anarchy, he asked for a raise and was told that they could find anyone to replace him.
He took this news and started writing. The end result was some successful moves and Yellowstone, and the source shared, “and now that he’s the top of the heap, there’s definitely some ego to all of this.”
