‘Yellowstone’ Kevin Costner Chaos May Lead To Cancellation?
The top-rated Paramount series Yellowstone could be over, at least in its current form. Here is the latest information on the Taylor Sheridan-created series.
In addition, we have some information on what could be next for the beloved characters. Here is the latest shocking news.
Yellowstone As We Know It May End Soon
On Monday, Deadline reported that Paramount is going to soon end Yellowstone as we know it. Instead, they plan on creating a “franchise extension.” This will continue with another branch of the Duttons. They report that Paramount is in talks with Matthew McConaughey to lead this new series.
However, it may still include some current “big stars” that fans know and love from the current OG series.
Paramount Makes A Statement On The Future Of TV’s Number One Series
Paramount made an official statement about the future of the series. Although they claim that they don’t have any “news to report,” they seemingly confirm that McConaughey is part of the future. They appear to confirm that this will be yet another Taylor Sheridan franchise.
We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come. Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.”
However, they seem to cast doubt on the future of Kevin Costner, who recently won a Golden Globe for Best Television Actor in a Drama Series for his role as patriarch John Dutton.
What Is Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone Future?
At the center of this news is what is happening with Kevin Costner. The publication reports that the Field Of Dreams star wants to limit his shooting schedule.
Yellowstone Season 5 is a supersized season with 14 episodes. In addition, they are filming it in two blocks. The first eight episodes were filmed nearly a year ago. However, they are currently filming the final six episodes.
The report explains that Costner had “limited himself” to a total of 65 days of shooting for the Paramount series. He wanted to film the bulk of his days for the first half, about 50 days. He planned on spending around a week for the second half of shooting.
The reason Costner is limiting himself is that he is starring and directing in Horizon, a westerner that he wrote with Jon Baird.
Morale Problems On Yellowstone Set
This turn of events and disagreements between Paramount and Kevin Costner has caused “morale problems” for the rest of the cast. Moreover, Taylor Sheridan is frustrated.
Therefore, Paramount and Sheridan are now deciding to “move on to the other show.” That means that Taylor Sheridan needs to start writing with Matthew McConaughey as the star. Although, it is still not official that the Dazed And Confused star will be starring. But, it certainly looks like they are trying to make that happen. They also have to decide where the new series will take place.
In addition, this new project is “way more than just talk.” The industry publication also surmises that the final half of Season 5 could be the end of Yellowstone.
