Whitney Way Thore Shares A Scene From Babs’ Funeral
My Big Fat Fabulous Life star Whitney Way Thore shared the heartbreaking news that her mother Babs passed away on December 7, 2022. Although it was certainly a difficult time for the family, Whitney did not ask for privacy during her time of grief. Instead, she posted the information about Babs’ funeral and invited the public. According to the MBFFL star, anyone who loved her mother was welcome to attend.
Whitney Way Thore posts a beautiful tribute to her late mother
My Big Fat Fabulous Life has fans from all over the country. As such, not everyone could attend Babs’ funeral. However, Whitney made sure to post a quick video on her Instagram page to share her love for her mother with fans. In the video, pallbearers bring Babs’ casket into a building, presumably for her service.
Whitney captioned the video with a beautiful poem by Henry Scott Holland.
“Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was,” the poem began. Many fans felt that it was a beautiful choice for a memorial post.
But of course, fans really wanted to hear from Whitney. The TLC star didn’t have much to add, but her message on the video was so touching.
“Rest in peace, Sweet Mommy,” Whitney wrote on the video. “You were the best mother and my best friend. I will love you and live for you every minute of the rest of my life.”
“Thank you for sharing your beautiful mother and her spirit with us. We are so blessed to have witnessed her love for you and you for her. May she rest in eternal glory,” one fan wrote in the comments.
“It was an honor and a privilege to be there for your mother and your family today. I love all of you very much. ❤️” another added.
Babs passed away after ongoing health issues
After suffering a stroke in late 2021, Babs needed to live in an assisted living facility. However, her family kept her spirits up and did their best to stay with her. Whitney Way Thore frequently shared updates on Babs’ health with fans on social media. Even a few months ago, fans noticed that Babs seemed to be in great spirits and on her way to recovery.
After Babs passed away, Whitney broke the news on social media and revealed they sadly knew the end was coming.
“My mom had cerebral amyloid angiopathy, which is an untreatable progressive condition caused by proteins in the blood vessels of the brain that can cause dementia, seizures, or like in my mom’s case, brain bleeding (hemorrhagic strokes),” she wrote. “When mom had her first stroke in 2017, we were told of this and we knew that more strokes would eventually be inevitable. Mom’s second stroke was December 28, 2021 and her last was November 13, 2022.”
My Big Fat Fabulous Life definitely won’t be the same without her. Rest in peace, Babs.
