‘The View’: Joy Behar Explodes At Nosy Sara Haines

The View co-host Joy Behar explodes at nosy Sara Haines. She didn’t want to “go there” with a question about her past. Fans have noticed the tension between the two co-hosts as of recently. Sara Haines asks personal questions

On Tuesday’s broadcast of The View, the panel discussed marriage and divorce. Co-host Sara Haines asked Joy Behar some personal questions. She wanted to know more about her first marriage. Moderator Whoopi Goldberg started a conversation about Ruth Wilson’s interview in which she revealed she didn’t want to get married because she “believes in connections, not institutions.”

“You know, I believe George Clooney said the same thing and the next thing you know, he’s got two kids and a wife!” Whoopi joked. “What do you think of all that?”

Sara, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin offered their viewpoints. Joy Behar joked that people used to believe in “’till death do us part” because they “used to live to 40-ish and then they would die!”

“And now, you don’t die at 40, and so that’s why you get a divorce a lot of times and so people live to be a hundred sometimes,” Joy Behar continued. “I certainly hope I will!”

Joy mentioned her current marriage to Steve Janowitz, who she married in 2011. Sara brought up the fact that Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell stayed together for decades despite never getting married. Joy admitted that she felt that way before. Sara thought she was talking about her first marriage.

“The original?” Sara asked.

“The original? No, let’s not go there!” Joy Behar shut her down.

The live studio audience awkwardly laughed. Sara responded with an “Okay” and nodded her head. Joy shared that she met Steve in 1982 and they moved in together in 2022. She admitted that she enjoyed being single for 20 years.

That’s not all that happened. Whoopi Goldberg reminded Joy Behar that she wasn’t technically single during that time. She informed her that she was still involved with Steve even though they weren’t married. Joy wasn’t having it and she clapped back at the comedian.

“I used to say, ‘I want a man in my life but not in my house!'” Joy Behar explained. “And so I had that 20 years like that. Then in 2002, he moved in and we got married in 2011, so look at that!”

Joy explained that she had to be on her own before getting married. Before they moved in together and got married, she admitted that she “loved having my own place.” Before she got involved with Steve, Joy was married to professor Joe Behar in 1965 and they divorced in 1981.
