‘Twin Peaks’ Composer Angelo Badalamenti Dead At 85
Heartbreaking news for lovers of dream pop as the man credited for launching it into the mainstream, Angelo Badalamenti, has been confirmed dead at 85. For those who don’t recognize his name, this Grammy-winning composer brought the soundtracks for both Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks to life. Speaking to Rolling Stones, the composer’s manager, Kraft-Engel Management, confirmed Angelo passed away.
Twin Peaks Composer Angelo Badalamenti Dead At 85
Speaking to Rolling Stones, Angelo’s family confirmed the composer died of “natural causes.” Fans of his music take comfort in knowing that his death was peaceful and he was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing.
Angelo Badalamenti was a composer, loving husband, father, and grandfather. The family confirmed he passed away on Dec. 11, 2022 at 85 years old peacefully due to natural causes and was surrounded by his loving family. The family appreciates their privacy at their difficult time.”

He received tons of attention during the 80s
During the 80s, Angelo Badalamenti landed in the spotlight thanks to his work for David Lynch’s films. In addition to his work for Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet, he also did work for National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Cabin Fever, Dark Water, and the theme to Inside the Actors Studio. Moreover, he even composed the intro for the Olympics in Barcelona in 1992.
In addition to composing for various films, Angelo Badalamenti also wrote/co-wrote music for several different artists including Nina Simone, Shirley Bassey, and “Spanky” Wilson.
Angelo Badalamenti was a man who always knew he wanted to be involved in composing music. Prior to getting involved with composing for films, he studied composition at the Manhattan School of Music and the Eastman School of Music. More specifically, he studied both the piano and the French horn. He also dabbled in teaching music and playing regular piano gigs.
