‘DWTS’: Could Shangela Fill Len Goodman’s Shoes Next Year?
Right now, drag performer Shangela is excited to have an opportunity to perform in the DWTS Season 31 finale. She and her partner Gleb Savchenko have worked hard all season long to make it this far. Now, they’re in the final four and hope to bring home the Mirrorball Trophy.
But what’s Shangela going to do when Season 31 comes to a close? It’s clear she has an intense passion and talent for dance. Could she come back to Dancing With The Stars next year? There will be an empty seat at the judges’ table since Len Goodman announced his retirement.
Keep reading to see what Shangela had to say about the situation.
DWTS fans adore watching Shangela perform
Dancing With The Stars has never had a drag queen compete before. But after Season 31, this may become a regular occurrence. Shangela is the first contestant to compete in drag on the show, but she’s quickly winning over the audience and judges. Everyone loves watching her lively, flamboyant routines.
It’s easy for most to see why she and Gleb made it to the finale.
Newsweek caught up with Shangela to talk about her experience on DWTS, including Len Goodman’s retirement.
“All of the pro dancers, everyone associated with the show, is going to miss him. There’s never going to be anyone like Len Goodman,” the drag performer told the publication. However, she isn’t really interested in taking his place.
“I know for sure that I am not yet qualified. No ma’am!” she joked with the interviewer.
As for Shangela, she’s just really focused on giving her best performance with Gleb during the finale. She went on to say that she’s grateful to have the experience of representing drag performers for the first time ever on Dancing With The Stars.
The DWTS Season 31 finale is finally here!
There were 16 couples when the season began. Now, there are only four left. This week, Shangela and Gleb will perform two routines in hopes of winning first place.
For the first routine, Shangela and Gleb will perform the Quickstep to “Queen Bee” by Rochelle Diamante. Bruno Tonioli will give them tips and advice for this routine, since it’s one they scored poorly on before. For the freestyle, they will perform to “Survivor” / “Call Me Mother” by Destiny’s Child / RuPaul. Fans are incredibly excited to see what they’ll come up with. There may even be a death drop!
The Dancing With The Stars Season 31 finale kicks off this Monday night at 8 PM eastern time. Don’t forget to tune in and see how Shangela and Gleb perform! Vote for your favorite contestant and see who takes home the Mirrorball Trophy when the night comes to an end.
