‘Andor’ Star Tapped For Her Own Star Wars Series on Disney+
Shows about long-time Star Wars favorites like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Boba Fett failed to live up to the success of The Mandalorian. However, once Disney+ and Lucasfilm went to a lesser-known character again, it ended up striking gold with Andor.
There is also good news coming from this. Breakout star Adria Arjona was such a big hit that fans will see more of her in the future.
Andor star to get her own Star Wars series
While fans came to Andor to see Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, he played the character originally in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Also returning were familiar faces in Stellan Skarsgard as Luthen Rael and Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera. However, standing out from them all in a breakout role was Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen.
Industry leaker Daniel Richtman (via his Patreon) breaks a lot of news and he is almost always right. In this case, he has revealed that Adria Arjona reportedly signed up for more future Star Wars projects thanks to her breakout in Andor. One of these is an option for her own Disney+ series focusing on Bix Caleen.
While the viewer numbers are lower than the shows with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Boba Fett, the critical reviews and fan interest seems higher online. This could be the start of a new corner of the Star Wars universe just focusing on Andor‘s world.
Who is Adria Arjona from Andor?
Adria Arjona might have enjoyed her breakout role in Andor, but she was also recently in a very different franchise movie. She starred as the new bride in the remake of Father of the Bride. The original movie starred Steve Martin as the dad reluctantly giving his daughter away at her wedding. In the remake, it was Andy Garcia as the dad.
The actress is from Puerto Rico and has lived there, in Mexico City, Miami, and New York. She also has fame in her blood, as her dad is Guatemalan Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona.
Adria has been acting since 2012. One of her bigger early roles was in the TV series Emerald City, based on The Wizard of Oz. She also recently appeared in the critical bomb Morbius. This saw her appear as the character Martine Bancroft, an ally of Morbius who became a vampire herself in the movie. This was all based in the world of Spider-Man.
With Star Wars, the Marvel Universe, The Wizard of Oz, and Father of the Bride, the actress has dipped her toes in a lot of places and seems ready for her big breakout, and it looks like Bix Caleen gave it to her.
