‘DWTS’: Who Is Alfonso Ribeiro Most Excited To Watch This Year?
This year, Dancing With The Stars will have two co-hosts. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor Alfonso Ribeiro will join Tyra Banks onstage and keep the competition running smoothly.
Alfonso is definitely no stranger to the world of dance. In Season 19, he teamed up with Witney Carson to bring home the Mirrorball Trophy. He knows exactly what the Season 31 contestants are going through right now and he can’t wait to see what they bring to the table.
But who is he secretly rooting for? Keep reading to see what the 50-year-old actor had to say.
Alfonso Ribeiro is excited about many competitors — but really wants to see one in particular
Alfonso Ribeiro has been a massive Dancing With The Stars fan for years. When he’s not busy being a husband and father, he really enjoys watching the latest season every fall. But now, he gets to be part of the action once again.
As a host, Alfonso is supposed to be impartial. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s not excited about a specific contestant.
PEOPLE recently asked the 50-year-old actor who he has his eye on. He said that Wayne Brady, Jessie James Decker, and Jordin Sparks would all be great competitors. But he’s really excited to see what Selma Blair brings to the table.
“Well, to be honest with you, I don’t what everybody’s going to look like,” Alfonso told the publication. “I will say that I am so interested to see Selma Blair’s journey. It’s such a groundbreaking moment for the show to have someone [with Multiple sclerosis] be able to come and do the show. I think it’s going to be a wonderful story this season. How well she can do physically is yet to be seen, but I can’t wait to see that story.”
Cruel Intentions star Selma Blair is going to be the first person to compete on DWTS with MS.
“I’m trying to develop a love story with life right now,” Selma Blair told PEOPLE. “Things are coming along for sure. I really do feel like a new person.”
The actress feels beyond blessed to have this opportunity. She will take the stage with pro dancer Sasha Farber.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor takes over with Tom Bergeron’s blessing
Although many DWTS viewers are happy for Alfonso Ribeiro and his new role, they can’t help but miss Tom Bergeron. But these fans will be pleased to know that Alfonso has Tom’s blessing. The two reportedly had a heart-to-heart before The Fresh Prince actor accepted the role.
“We have enough respect for each other that I wanted to talk to him as a friend. I wanted to let him know how it went down [with] all the love and respect that I have for Tom,” Alfonso told Us Weekly in a recent interview.
Tune into DWTS on Disney+ this Monday night to see how Selma Blair and all the other contestants perform you won’t want to miss out!

It’s really sad Dancing with stars became popular on regular TV, now you have to stream a channel to see it. That let’s out people on a fixed income out in the cold. Greed at its best.
Really sad. I pay enough for cable TV. Not adding paid channels.
