Whitney Way Thore thanks fans for their continued love and support
Even though MBFFL fans find it hard to watch Babs struggle onscreen, they are pleased to know she’s doing much better today. Whitney confirmed that the stroke happened last December. Every day, it seems that Babs is growing stronger. Her daughter opted to share a very special video with fans online.
“My mom had her stroke on 12/28/21. The time between then and now has been the most trying and difficult, but also the most treasured time we have ever known,” Whitney began her lengthy Instagram post, which included the video. “I want to say thank you on behalf of my family, from the bottom of our hearts, for the unbelievable amount of support and well wishes we receive daily for my mother. Knowing how much she is loved by people who have never even met her is overwhelming.”
The TLC personality went on to say that she reads her mother all the uplifting and positive comments they receive from Instagram. And the family all decided to watch the latest season of My Big Fat Fabulous Life together so they can see Babs’ recovery play out onscreen.
“This video was from January 2022 when Mom was in the hospital rehab. Right now, the update on Mom is that we are still at Abbotswood!” Whitney continued. “We moved into a huge two-bedroom a few months ago as soon as one became available, so I have a bedroom of my own now! Dad has also been a resident there since day one, and we have an ever-changing revolving door of animals in the apartment as well! (Some new ones I will introduce soon!)”
Why isn’t Babs coming home yet?
The MBFFL star went on to say that they couldn’t bring her mother home because the house isn’t wheelchair accessible. Additionally, Babs needs two nurses at all times to help her. That’s why living at Abbotsworld was the best choice for the family.
“At Abbotswood, she continues to get therapy, delicious meals 3 times a day, and she is able to interact with lots of people,” Whitney concluded. “Abbotswood is home to us now and we couldn’t be happier. Thank you so much for loving my mother.”
