Did Oprah Winfrey Offer Britney Spears Tell-All Interview?

Britney Spears' Interview With Lorraine

Britney Spears claims that she rejected Oprah Winfrey’s offer for a sit-down interview. On Sunday, August 28, she shocked fans when she released a 22-minute clip about her conservatorship and what caused it. She said that she turned down the opportunity to tell her story in a tell-all interview.

Britney wasn’t interested in money. The pop star just wanted to share her story on her own terms. She always made an effort to communicate with her fans, whether it was in her social media posts, handwritten letters on her website, or unreleased demos.

The singer tried to defy her family and management over the years. Unfortunately, Britney Spears couldn’t win when she was in a 13-year-long conservatorship. In the emotional clip, the singer asked “what the f*** did I do to deserve” this treatment.

Britney Spears sounds off in now-deleted audio

Britney Spears feels good to be back doing music on her own terms. She’s riding off the high of her newly released duet with Elton John. Britney dropped nearly 20-minute audio on YouTube about her conservatorship that held her captive for years. She explained that she got an offer from Oprah Winfrey to do a sit-down interview, but she wasn’t interested in doing it for money.

“I have offers to do interviews with Oprah and so many people for lots and lots of money, but it’s insane,” Britney Spears explained, as per Deadline. “I don’t want any of it. For me, it’s beyond a sit-down proper interview.”

Oprah Winfrey’s team shuts down rumor

Britney Spears may be wrong about getting an offer from Oprah Winfrey. Sources close to the former daytime diva claimed that it never happened. They reached out to Radar Online to set the record straight. The alleged source told the outlet that “they 100% did not offer Britney money for an interview. Oprah does not pay.”

The insider further explained, “She didn’t pay Meghan and Harry and wouldn’t pay Britney.” Oprah scored the first-ever interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in March 2021. At the time, rumors swirled that they were paid in the millions. The production company behind the interview told Reuters that Meghan and Harry never received payment.

However, sit-down interviews in exchange for money are not uncommon. It’s possible that Britney Spears received multiple offers, some of which could’ve been money offers. So, it’s likely that she misconstrued them. The songstress is about to release her highly anticipated memoir this year, but the paper shortage has pushed it back.

For now, Britney Spears said she “had a lot going on in her head” and said it was “crucial for my heart and head to speak openly” about the conservatorship.
