Did ‘Too Hot To Handle’ Contestants Push Things Too Far This Year?
The contestants who appear on Netflix’s Too Hot To Handle are generally known for being vapid and superficial when they first arrive at the resort. But over the course of the season, the goal is to help them develop stronger, more meaningful connections with other people. The process works with most contestants, but some fall short of their goals.
This season, many viewers noticed that many of the contestants don’t quite seem interested in changing for the better. And as one author argues, this season’s contestants, particularly the men, are the most toxic of all. Do you agree? Keep reading to see why.
This article will contain spoilers about Too Hot To Handle Season 3, so read at your own risk!
The Too Hot To Handle Season 3 contestants were pretty outrageous
In an article for The Tab, author Hayley Soen argues that some of the things the men did this season were pretty cringeworthy.
“There are only so many times you can excuse their behaviour because they’re ‘horny,'” Soan writes. She continues to give a rundown of all the horrible things they did this season, simply because they wanted to hook up with the beautiful women on the island.
Soen begins by discussing how Stevan, Patrick, and Harry all wanted to go after Georgia at the beginning of the season without thinking about her wants at all.
For several episodes, viewers have to watch the boys duke it out for her and do some pretty awkward things to get her attention. Remember when Patrick wrote that song for Georgia?
She admitted to Cosmpolitan UK that she really didn’t mind the song, but that didn’t make it any easier for fans to watch.
Additionally, Soen argues that the way the men reacted to Georgia and Izzy’s rule break was completely disgusting. Instead of getting made that the two women broke the rules and cost them money out of the prize fund, the men were just angry they didn’t get to watch the women kiss.
And let’s not forget about Truth
If there was one contestant that completely failed this year, it was Truth. At the beginning of the season, most of the men were just like Truth. However, many began to grow over the course of the season. Truth remained interested in going back to his old playboy ways.
He kept juggling and lying to both Izzy and Jaz until Lana eliminated him partway through the season. Fans couldn’t help but chuckle at the irony between his name and his character.
If you get a chance, it’s definitely worth your time to read through Hayley Soen’s article. We picked out a few specific instances of the contestant’s bad behavior here, but Soen goes into more detail.
Too Hot To Handle may be for entertainment purposes, but viewers can’t deny that some of the behavior this year was a little ridiculous. What did you think about all of it? Be sure to let us know what you think in the comments.
