‘Below Deck’ Captain Mark Howard’s Real Cause Of Death Released
Captain Mark Howard tragically passed away in October. He appeared on Season 1 of Below Deck Mediterranean. Captain Sandy Yawn replaced him in Season 2 and has been the captain of the Med ever since. Below Deck alum’s wife finds him dead in their home
Below Deck Mediterranean premiered in 2016. In late October, Bravo took to Instagram to share their condolences. They revealed that the first-ever captain passed away at the age of 65. In their Instagram post, they revealed that “he will always be remembered for his many contributions and mentorship and will forever remain part of the Bravo family.”
In the comment section, many of the Below Deck fans and family shared condolences and memories with Captain Mark. Per TMZ, his wife Susan found him dead at their home. She returned from a dog show that took place from October 22 to 27. When she returned home, she sadly found him dead upstairs.
At the time, the police report from the Fernandina Beach Police Department indicated that he may have fallen from boxes that fell on him. He lost his balance and fell on a shelf. The details of his death were unclear. Mark’s wife also noticed that there were “blood droplets on the floor and blood on the side of his face.” However, it was unclear if he “suffered any trauma” from the incident. Sadly, Mark passed away just days before he was found.
He was the leader and mentor on Below Deck Med Season 1. The Bravo alum starred in 13 episodes that season. Mark always declared that the “guest is always right.” Former Below Deck Med crew members like Tiffany Copeland shared photos of herself with the captain. Hannah Ferrier revealed that she still kept in touch with Mark.
Captain Mark Howard’s cause of death revealed
People obtained a medical examiner report that revealed Captain Mark Howard’s cause of death. E! News was the first to publish the report. It listed his death as natural. Now, it’s been revealed that he died from hypertensive cardiovascular disease combined with chronic alcoholism.
Mark passed away on Wednesday, October 27. But the news of his death did not break until two days later when his wife found him at their home. According to Mark’s bio, he was born and raised in Michigan. He worked as a yacht captain for almost 30 years. He also enjoyed flying helicopters and interacting with the charter guests.
Hannah recently opened up about her work relationship with Mark. In an interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish podcast, she shared that she would “touch base” with him “once a year.” She really enjoyed working with him. Hannah also joked that he was “the opposite of [Captain Sandy],” in which she wouldn’t know what he was up to on the yacht.
