‘My 600-Lb. Life’: Those We Have Lost Over The Years
My 600-Lb. Life is a popular TLC show. Each show depicts participants who are at or over 600 pounds. In addition, each person wants to change their life. They schedule an appointment with a specialist regarding weight loss surgery. The stories can go either way, depending on the participant. Some take it seriously and others do not.
Living in My 600-Lb. Life
My 600-Lb. Life aired back in February 2012. From the moment it aired, the world got a peek into the personal life of a morbidly obese individual. In some cases, the lifestyles and family relationships are heartbreaking. In others, there is support and love. There are tears, fears, failures, and successes. Each person shares their story and what lead to their obesity. In some cases, family trauma resulted in weight gain. Personal loss also plays a part with some participants. In some cases, life, in general, has taken its toll. Nevertheless, the show manages to depict each person with dignity and grace. Keep in mind, that each person is at least 600 pounds or more.
Introducing Dr. Nowzaradan
Dr. Nowzaradan performs weight loss surgeries which is his specialty. However, the doctor doesn’t just approve each patient. In fact, everyone who participates in the show is usually given a specific weight loss goal. This goal ensures the health of the client. It also gauges the client’s desire to lose weight. Those who do not take the weight loss goal seriously do not get the surgery. As a result, Dr. Now does not hold any punches. His tone is firm when he states that the surgery will not take place if they do not follow his orders. However, there have been a number of successes.
Dr. Now’s practice is out of Houston, Texas. The professional has served in his capacity for over 20 years. The majority of his patients from My 600-Lb. Life make the trek to see him personally. In fact, some even move to Texas to make it easier on their treatments and travel. It is an arduous journey for some. For others, it is a no brainer. If they want the results, they do what it takes.
Those We’ve Lost
With reality TV comes another reality. Death. With My 600-Lb. life, it is no different. In fact, a few patients have been lost along the way. These may or may not have anything to do with their weight. However, they are people who came into our lives through the show.
