Huge Bold and Beautiful spoiler ahead! Thorsten Kaye is set to leave the CBS soap. The actor who currently plays Ridge Forrester on the fashionable daytime drama will be making his exit. But don’t worry; it’s not until next year and it’s only temporary. He wants to take a break to focus on his family.
That means fans will be seeing less of Ridge. It looks like his coveted role won’t get recast. Not as of yet. Kaye opened up about his planned break in a new interview. This will come as a shock to fans who look forward to seeing the hot German-British export on their screen.
Thorsten Kaye talks about his future exit
In a new interview with Belgian outlet HLN, Thorsten Kaye dropped a major spoiler. He revealed that his character Ridge Forrester will be written off The Bold and the Beautiful. That’s because the actor is planning a break next year. The set of the soap will look a lot different since Ridge is always around and is involved with most of the storylines.
The longtime soap star wants to take a break. He will only be off the show for a few months so he can take a “small world trip” with his wife, Susan Haskell, and their two daughters, McKenna, 17, and Marlowe, 14. Kaye first took over the role from actor Ron Moss in 2013. He had to fly back and forth from his home on the East coast to the B&B studio in Los Angeles.

“I have already agreed with my boss [B&B Executive Producer Brad Bell] that next year or the year after that he should write me out of the story for a few months,” Kaye explained, as translated by Soap Central.
The All My Children alum said that he and his family are “really looking forward” to this time together. They want to go on a world tour now that the pandemic is winding down. One of their stops will take place at his birthplace of Frankfurt, Germany.
B&B star admits he was nervous about replacing Ron Moss
Thorsten Kaye also talks about replacing Ron Moss in the iconic role. He initially felt nervous since he was filling some pretty big shoes. Those nerves got the best of him. When Kaye signed the contract with the program he didn’t realize that he scored the role of Ridge Forrester.
“I must say that I broke into a sweat when I heard the role I had signed for,” he explained. “My wife pointed out to me… When Sean Connery gave up as James Bond, everyone thought that secret agent 007 was over. Then came Roger Moore, and other actors after him. And James Bond still attracts many people to the cinema.”

Kaye, needs his family time vacation.
But we need the storyline to stay as is. Katie an Bill need to find peace. An a happy family, recast Kaye while his gone. Let Eric and Donna find each other again. Let Quinn live with what she lost.Quinn will find love with Carter,after period of soul searching. Wyatt and Flo need joy in there lives. Liam and Hope need to find marital bliss.Thomas needs to find a love thats just for him,an be a designer an be noticed an Fashion show his own.
Steffy and Finn has a family, let them be happy.
Who will watch then? No drama, everyone is happy? Booooooring!

I am going to miss Thorsten Kaye in the role of Ridge Forrester but at the same time totally understand the need for family time, vacation, getting reacquainted again etc, etc,etc. I have grown to like his rough sounding voice, but don’t always care for the unkempt look he has most of the time now. I really hope he doesn’t leave the show for good. I will look forward to him coming back soon. Before you leave could you film some short visits back for business reasons, take care of business and go back out again. That will help your fans until you are back.
Ridge is my favorite character!!! Hope his leave is not long !!!!! Please do not replace him !!!

Good, I hope he stays away and doesn’t come back. He’s not HOT, as some of the ladies have commented. He always looks unkempt with long unruly hair and he is NEVER clean shaven, even when his scruff is very long, he shows up the next episode with a four day scruff. His voice is very irritating, like he is shouting a whisper. He is no better an actor than anyone else on the show.
He needs to take Steffy and Thomas with him and when he returns, they stay off in some other country. We have had enough of those two for a lifetime. Have fun and enjoy your family then get you hind in back here and reclaim Ridges love of his life all over again. Yes, I mean Brooke.

Have always liked him , all my children he was great, miss all my children also, hope he has good family time and hope he returns soon , he is always handsome although i agree he needs to clean up the beard and hair a bit .

I’ve watched Thorsten for many years now. Zack Slater was the character he played on All My Children.
I’ve noticed over quite a period of time now, that he’s very sloppy in appearance. His hair always looks dirty & for sure needs a good trimming. I remember a scene between Quinn & him. Quinn looked at him & quipped…”do you have a comb”? The scruffy beard does not compliment him either.
Looking as rough as he does, it makes him look older; not more attractive, & certainly not sexy.
C’mon Thorsten…clean yourself up!
